SUNG-IM KIM was born in Seoul, South Korea. At age fifteen, she debuted as a soloist with the Seoul National Philharmonic Orchestra. She went on to win the Eum Ak Chun Chu and Jung-Ang competitions, and performed in numerous solo and chamber concerts in Seoul. After obtaining a degree from Kyung-Won University, she continued studies at the Royal Academy of Music. While in England, she gave solo performances at many venues, including the Academy of St Martin-in-the-Fields, Glenilla Arts Foundation, and the Pump Room in Bath. In addition, she won prizes including the Haverhill Sinfonia Soloist competition in England and the Ibla International Piano competition in Italy. In 2007 she obtained a Master’s Degree at Carnegie Mellon University, where she remained to teach Collaborative Piano and to perform in numerous recitals at the school and with the Pittsburgh Concert Society. She has recently performed in concerts in Korea and China.

EDWARD LEONARD has established a reputation for his versatility and interpretation of an extensive repertoire. He is the founding Artistic Director and Conductor of the Chamber Orchestra of Pittsburgh that performs both traditional chamber works and new music, including frequent premieres. Mr Leonard is in constant demand as a guest conductor at home and around the country, performing with the Pittsburgh Youth Chamber Orchestra, OvreArts New Music Ensemble, Savoyards Pittsburgh, Midwest Chamber Ensemble, and the Eclectic Laboratory Chamber Orchestra. He earned a Master’s Degree in Orchestral Conduction at Carnegie Mellon University, where he prepared ensembles for noted conductors including Sir Andrew Davis, Erich Kunzel, Thomas Baldner, and David Effron. For five summers he attended the Pierre Monteaux School for Orchestra Conductors in Maine, where he studied with Michael Jinbo.

NANCY GALBRAITH has been composing music since the late 1970’s, creating instrumental and vocal sound praised for its rich harmonic texture, rhythmic vitality, emotional and spiritual depth, and wide range of expression. With major contributions to the repertoires of symphony orchestras, concert choirs, wind ensembles, chamber ensembles, and soloists, Galbraith plays a leading role in defining the sound of American contemporary classical music. The composer is also an accomplished pianist and organist and has composed a number of sacred choral and organ works in her years as a church music director and organist.

Galbraith resides in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, where she is Professor and Chair of Composition at the Carnegie Mellon University School of Music, and holds the Vira I. Heinz Professorship of Music endowed chair at CMU’s College of Fine Arts.

CHAMBER ORCHESTRA OF PITTSBURGH provides its community with exceptional performances, education, and related programming by a world-class ensemble. Its repertoire includes compelling works that are familiar, rarely performed, and newly composed. The ensemble was founded in 2014 by its Artistic Director and Conductor, Edward Leonard.
