Children had been keenly anticipating Thursday’s Inter-House challenge for weeks. The event pits the four Houses against each other, with groups of mixed ages being put through their paces in a quiz, a Japa-nese quest, a fashion show and a song and dance competition. Groups have to work together all day before presenting to everybody in a final assembly. This year’s event was as colourful as it was spectacular and maintained its tradition as the Term 1 grade finale—in fact, I’d go as far as to say that it was the best yet. The costumes were brilliant, the

singing and dancing very polished, the quiz was a tough test, and the Japanese chal-

lenge was quirky and fun. Stop Press—this year’s champions—Midori House!

We are now due for a well-earned break after a 13 week term. I wish you a very

pleasant summer holiday, and if you are travelling, a safe journey. We are all looking

forward to receiving those post cards – wherever you end up - see you in August!

As summer approaches inevitably, as an international school, families transfer to other places around the world and new families arrive. This summer is no excep-tion and we want to wish the students and parents who will be leaving the MIS community the very best as they launch new adventures in exciting places all over the world. Fortunately, in our digital world, it is easy to stay in contact.

Please keep us in your thoughts as you will be in ours. We will miss you!

While thinking about summer, we hope that your child will participate in the Summer Postcard Competition. You should have received a flyer this week explaining that we would like students to send a postcard to the school from one of their summer trips or activities. They should make sure to include their first and last name as well as their class number (e.g. G2G) as well as write about where they are, what they are doing, and how they feel. Last year, students were very creative – many decorating or designing their own postcard. We are expecting great things again

this year.

Wishing you all a restful and fun-filled summer! Don’t forget to read every day as part of your

summer routine.

Kindergarten News

From Mr Mark Paxton, Kindergarten Coordinator

This has been a busy first term and it has been a joy for teachers to see children grow and develop so

much since April. We would like to wish all families a restful and fun filled summer holiday. We look for-

ward to seeing you in Term 2!

To finish term 1 children have been enjoying making wishes to celebrate the Tanabata festival. We also

had a visit from the Aqua Clara company who taught us all about water.
