Europe Endures• Great Britain much more stronger and in the long

run he could never invade it• Each country in Europe started to gain

Nationalistic feelings of “I am better than you are”• Russia: Like Great Britain was unattainable.

Napoleon tries to invade and loses big time• 750,000 troops entered Russia: 15,000 and less

came back• Defeat at Waterloo last straw

What happens next?• Napoleon exiled to St. Helena island• France is hated by all of Europe• European powers now arise and want to

make sure that another Napoleon rises to power

• Militarism, Nationalism, and Alliances start to corrupt Europe

• Ideas of modernization do spread (new technology, life, and society emerges)
