Historically famous in the agricultural sector, Narrabri Shire is looking to the future across a range of industries that will build on the existing strong economic foundation. Additional coal seam gas and coal mining projects are joining existing organisations, creating diverse employ-ment and ancillary business opportunities. A desirable place to live, Narrabri Shire has a strong cultural heritage and a vibrant community atmosphere that provides an attractive and exciting place for business-es and families.

Narrabri is the administrative heart of the second richest agricultural Shire in Australia. Located at the centre of a major cotton growing industry, agricultural industries in the area also include wheat, beef and lamb.

Set against the backdrop of the Nandewar Ranges and on the banks of the Namoi River, Narrabri is an energetic regional centre offering a wonderful selection of shops, restaurants, museums and a large array of tourist attractions. In addition Narrabri boasts The Crossing Theatre, a 1000 seat auditorium and cinema com-plex of a standard normally only found in larger Australian communities.

Narrabri is a prosperous, modern town servicing a large and highly productive agricultural district. Narrabri’s growth and development is strongly tied to the success of its agricultural and commer-cial industries and the shire is moving

ahead towards an exciting future. The town boasts a broad range of commercial, industrial and retail services and there is a young, energetic population.

Narrabri Shire’s second largest town is Wee Waa. Renowned for being Austra-lia’s Cotton Capital – the very birthplace of Australia’s modern cotton industry. But there is more to Wee Waa than just cotton!

Wee Waa has a busy and beautifully land-scaped main street with unique boutique shops to interest all tastes. Wee Waa has three reputable primary schools and one high school all boasting excellent facilities and academic results. New residents will be find Wee Waa a very welcoming, close-knit and supportive community.

You won’t find a more friendly town than Boggabri. This vibrant and positive community has a great heritage. The town catchphrase “The little town with the big heart” is a true representation of this progressive and positive community.

Boggabri is strategically positioned to take full advantage of the resource industry and is located close to existing coal operations and the imminent start of further mines. The town is experi-encing growth and development with an ever-growing demand on services and housing. A strong business community is developing to support and take advantage of this new industry.

One glimpse of a clear night sky will leave you with no doubts as to why this region is known as “Big Sky” country. The seemingly endless horizons have facilitated the growth of the CSIRO Australia Telescope Compact Array, whose six radio telescopes are gleaming beacons of scientific advancement. The natural wonder of the Nandewar Ranges and Mt Kaputar National Park will keep even the most reluctant of bushwalkers enthralled.

Set against the backdrop of the Nandewar Ranges and on the banks of the Namoi River, Narrabri is an energetic regional centre.
