    Hut Tax War f 1898

The Temne people are from Sierra leone Chief Bai Bureh started a war against

the British colonist because they were overtaxing the Temne people. The British

colonist decided to tax the civilians depending on the size of their huts. The

military governor Colonel Frederic Carthew, claimed that this was to pay for the

privilege of having a British administration. (Unknown.2013).

The Chief Bai Bureh was 60 years old at the time when he declared war he was

the top warrior f Northern Sierra Leone( Unknown.2013). The war was very

intense and a lot of British soldiers lost their lives. Sir Frederic Cardew the

British Governor for Sierra Leone decided to offer 100 for the capture of Bai

Bureh and Bai Bureh in a rebuttal offered 500 for the capture of the Governor.

Bai Bureh was eventually captured an exiled to the Gold coast and many of his

    men were hanged. (Unknown.2013)

    The Anglo Ashante war

Europe carved up africa not forgetting their gold coast for colonial-economic

interest .They tried to bribe the Ashante Empire with treaties of friendship in

1817 and open trade(Warfare History blog, 2013). European countries sold

them antique guns and ammunition , the Ashante empire accepted many riffles

to equip their armies but they had bad aim and their weapons were always out of

date compared to the European armies .

Even with these set backs they were still able to defeat many British armies thatrose against them, in 1824 they were victorious against the British army in the

Pra river that was led by Sir Charles McCarthy. Mr McCarthy believed that he had

the upper hand because he was numerically larger but the Ashantes ambushstrategies got them to victory. (Warfare History blog, 2013)

What was collected in the industrial revolution?

Coal was a major factor into the transition into the industrial revolution Britain

was very fortunate to have plenty that could be easily mined.( BBC,2013).This

allowed Britain to have easy access to fuel helping them to push through into this

new age. Most of the mines were located near the sea this meant that it was easy

to transport the coal in land because of the nearby ports. The demand for this

mineral led to deeper mines, this had the increase risk of flooding. (BBC, 2013).

    Inventors

Thomas Edison invented the incandescent light bulb 1879, he had many

inventions but his most memorable are the phonograph, the light bulb , the

    kinetographic Camera.( Business Insider,2013).

Rudolf Diesel patents the diesel engine although it nearly killed him in one of his

attempts to ignite his invention he was finally successful in igniting the fuel

without causing a flame. Rudolf Diesel also worked in many other projects fromthe solar-powered air engine to heat engines.(M,Bellis 2013).
