Aug. 27-2821st Sunday in Ordinary TimeJesus entrusted the keys of the Kingdom to Peter, who represents the whole church - all of us. What are those keys? In Matthew’s Gospel, they are the Beatitudes. This means that all of us and each of us are called to be poor in spirit and meek, we are to hunger and thirst for righteousness; we are to show mercy and be peace-makers, we will mourn and we will experience persecution. We are called to love as God loves - without counting the cost and without exception. How will you witness to God’s love this week? To whom are you called to show love?

• • • • • • • • •Reconciliation & First Communion Preparation - Traditionally chil-dren celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation (First Confession) and First Communion in the second grade. For their preparation, children attend Religious Education for two years (1st grade & 2nd grade). The first year is traditionally 1st grade and the second, 2nd grade, is continued preparation for the sacraments and the celebration. Older children who have not celebrated the sacraments and need to prepare participate in the RCIA for Children Program. Register for Religious Education to get your child ready to celebrate the sacraments.
Reconciliación y Preparación de Primera Comunión - los niños celebran tradicionalmente el Sacramento de la Reconciliación (Prim-era Confesión) y la Primera Comunión en el segundo grado. Students who attend their 8th and 9th grade years will enter into the Confirmation Preparation Program in their 10th grade year. If a student did not attend 8th grade, the RE Staff will work with parents to place the child in appropriate classes. These guidelines are in accordance with the Diocese of Austin. Register for Religious Education to get your child ready to celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation.

His six and one-half weeks with us have been an important time for his absorption into parish life that will become his life-long ministry. Thank you for your spirit of welcome and encouragement to Deacon Paul-Michael and for all those in seminary formation who are with us. Your goodness will return to you in priestly blessings.

Hoy le decimos adiós al Diácono Paul-Michael Piega quien regresará al seminario para terminar sus estudios en el Colegio Norteamericano en Roma en preparación para su ordenación sacerdotal el 23 de junio del 2018. Sus seis semanas y media con nosotros han sido un tiempo impor-tante para alistarse a la vida parroquial cual llegará a ser su ministerio de por vida. Gracias por demostrar un espíritu de bienvenida y ánimo para el Diácono Paul-Michael y por todos aquellos que se encuentran en la formación de seminario aquí con nosotros. This year’s RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) Program begins on Thursday, September 7. There’s no cost, no obligation, no commitment necessary. In a series of friendly, informative and
spiritually exciting classes we will explore the major things Catho-lics believe and why. We will learn more about the Mass and what is happening and why. Learn about prayer, scripture, sacraments and Church history, and much more.
Are you Catholic and interested in learning more about your faith? Would you be willing to be part of this program to be part of a faith community willing to journey with and support those interested in learning more about our faith? Now may be the moment that God is calling you to be part of an exciting ministry.

In these last days of my summer here at Santa Cruz Parish, I re-flected on how profoundly grateful I am for all that has been given to me. First and foremost, I am grateful to Father David for his guidance, leadership, and friendship. En primer lugar, agradezco al Padre David por su dirección, liderazgo y amistad. También estoy agradecido al Padre Amado por su compañerismo y hermandad.A los diáconos, personal y líderes de Ministerio, me gustaría expresar mi sincero agradecimiento a todos ustedes por permitirme ser parte de sus ministerios, así como, compartir el trabajo en construir el Reino de Dios, en Buda, Texas.Me gustaría agradecer a la comunidad parroquial de una manera especial por permitirme compartir las experiencias que la vida parroquiana ofrece. Quiero hacerles saber de mi amor especial por todos ustedes y que todas estas experiencias tendrán un lugar especial en mi corazón al empezar mi segundo período de estudios en la Universidad Pontifica de la Santa Cruz.
