About CEDO: To complement the education process at Egyptian public universities and to bridge the gap between education and employment, Nahdet El Mahrousa launched the first Career and Entrepreneurship Development Office (CEDO) in public universities. The CEDO - an NM incubated project - aims at equipping students with “key essential skills” necessary to compete in today's job market. The office is geared to serve students with provision of essential career development services as well as provide a direct link to employers and quality employment opportunities. The office attracts corporate partners as key clients and stakeholders of CEDO. About the National CEDO Program In 2006, NM started a Career Advising office in Cairo University Faculty of Engineering to support students in making career decisions, connecting with potential employers and developing their employment skills. The project was initiated by t wo graduates of the Faculty of Engineering. As of today, the CEDO program has grown into other faculties (including: the Science, Agriculture, Mass Communication, Computer Science, Arts, and Urban planning), and has delivered career fairs, career counseling, numerous trainings in employment skills, and other services to the students. NM is currently in the process of expanding this model into all national universities in Egypt within

the next 5 years. We already have plans and funding to establish it in two new universities this year,

and are working to secure funding and support to move into other universities soon thereafter.

NM may also consider regional partnerships to expand the model in other countries in the region, in

partnership with local institutions.

The National CEDO Program will serve as the national umbrella for all CEDOs in Egypt. It will also

serve as a hub for different resources that are to be shared among the different CEDOs.

Nahdet El Mahrousa seeks a self-motivated, proactive, dynamic, experienced, and creative individual

to fill the following position:

Position Title: Full-time National CEDO Program DirectorPosition Location: NM Office, downtown Cairo

Position Duration: One year contract (renewable upon performance appraisal).

Job Opening Date: 30 December 2010. Position open till filled.

Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of NM Managing Director, National CEDO Secretariat Director will be

responsible for leading the expansion and replication of the Career and Entrepreneurship

Development Offices in all Egyptian public universities. The Director will be the main liaison and focal

point among the different parties including NM, Donors, Advisory Committee, Supreme Council of 

Universities, and Ministry of Higher Education.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

1.  Work with NM Managing Director and Board to define the replication strategy and plan

2.  Work on formalizing and documenting the CEDO model, services and processes

3.  Lead the process of building institutional partnerships

4.  Lead the process of establishing CEDOs throughout Egypt

5.  Initiate program implementation in newly established offices

6.  Support existing CEDOs by offering guidance and strategic direction

7.  Lead the Establishment of the National CEDO Program

8. 

Act as the main liaison and focal point among the different parties including NM, donors,partner institutions, etc.

9.  Additional relevant responsibilities and tasks as they arise.

Qualifications & Experience:

The ideal candidate will fit the profile below however we are open to consider strong candidates

with alternative profiles with business, CSR, or education backgrounds.

Education

  Bachelor degree. A Masters degree in a relevant field is an asset

  Minimum 10 years of professional experience in leading programs in Egypt

  Strong experience in leading/managing youth education programs (formal or informal) is an

asset

  Experience in similar career offices at private universities is a plus

  Very good knowledge and understanding of youth education and employment problems in

Egypt

  Strong volunteer and NGO work experience

  Experience in partnership building and resource mobilization (cash and in-kind)

  Good knowledge of results based management tools & approaches

  Experience in mobilizing sponsorship and funding from the corporate sector & deep

understanding of corporate social responsibility dynamics

  Experience in managing program budgets & maintaining financial control

Skills and Languages:

  Fluent in both Arabic and English (ability to write formal correspondences, proposals, etc in

both languages is very important)

  Excellent proposal writing and research skills

  Excellent communication, negotiation and partnership building skills

  Excellent leadership & team building skills

  Experience in working with different types of partners; including but not limited to, business,

government, senior officials, multinational corporations, grass root NGOs, international

organizations, students, and volunteers of different backgrounds

Travel Requirements: some travel across Egypt and the region is required.

Salary: A competitive package will be offered to selected candidate
