Building Depth- my thought post 2016 Trials
• “we need to build depth-- simple as that and that may be down the line at how many swimmers are top 300 WR, how many 200 WR, how many 100 WR (interesting how coaches and swimmers got wound up or relay selection and relay performance what they don’t understand the level of competent performance is required-- at least 2 swimmers in the 100 free or 200 free in the Top 100 WR to form half of the team and two more in the top 150 WR to fill out to be competent to maybe qualify for a spot at the OLYMPICs--> similar formula can be applied to final or medal (the medley relay for Denmark compiled of swimmers in the two TOP 8 WR individually and two Top 25 WR) so depth at a World level is required rather than not being top in Denmark as I see many thinking or perhaps and hopefully that is changing” – Dean Boles
Viable Options for Performance Development• (High) Performance Minded CLUB Programs- with Reliable, Repeatable Performance Leadership
NTC- National Training Center
• The objective of this high-performance entity is to provide an environment aimed at developing identified swimmers to their potential. The NTC will be serviced by expert coaching tasked solely with the high performance needs of the resident swimmers. The ultimate goal is to develop a training and competition environment where Danish swimmers can win at the highest levels. Athletes also benefit from a variety of support services such as sport science, medical support and supported access to one of the country’s top academic institution.
• Entry for the NTC is through an application process.
• The NTC offers in reach and regional visitation opportunities – A second role of the NTC is to become a catalyst to raise the performance of the club and regional high performance development.
Added value:
• -US University/Foreign Based Programs
• -International Visitation Program
Inspiring Denmark’s Youth to Aspire to be Denmark’s Future Sport Heroes
Taking the Guess Work out ofCoaching
“If you don’t have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over again” John Wooden
• Question: Have you arrived based on Design or by Chance?
Did you achieve your intended target at the Danish Open?
What is the definition of High Performance?
Advice: Ask the question “Why” when you have had a best performance that surpassed your expectations. And check it to see if is a reliable choice for future repeatable performances.
