1) Special Adventure Camp
Special Adventure Camp under Rajiv Gandhi Adventure Scheme on 8th to 17th June‟2010 at
Patnitop, Jammu & Kashmir State One Programme Officer (Mr.R.Kabilan, Nehru Memorial College,
Puthanampatti) & Two NSS Volunteer – (E.Arthi, Ganesar Arts & Science College, P.Om Prakash, Govt.

2) Mega Summer Camp
Rajiv Gandh National Institute of Youth Development, Sriperumbudur 8th to 19th June‟2010 Two
NSS Programme Officers (Mr.M.Franklin Samuel Jebakuma, TBML college, Porayar, Mr.Abdul
Hakeem, Jamal Mohamed College, Tiruchy) and one female NSS volunteer (M.Banu Priya, Thiru. Vi.

5) NSS Coordinator attended the meeting oraganized by TANSACS, at Chennai for selection of
Bharthidasan University, Trichy for instituting State Level Resource Centre on HIV with corpus fund of
Rs.2 lakhs on 05-04-2010
6) NSS Coordinator arranged an Advisory Committee Meeting held on 07-04-2010 at Syndicate Hall,
Bharathidasan University, tiruchy-24.
7) Efforts are being taken to organize, NIC in the Month of May‟2010 at Trichy Jamal Mohamed
College.
8) NSS Implementing College was insisted to send the Activity Reports and Audited Statement for the
year 2009-10 at their earliest.
9) RRC Implementing colleges were insisted to send the Activity Reports and Audited Statement for the
year 2009-10 at their earliest.
10) Semozhi Classical Tamil Mini Marathan Race
As directed by Tamil Nadu Govt., Bharathidasan University, National Service Scheme, Tiruchy
organized 12 k.m Mini Marathan Race to mark the celebrations of the World Classical Tamil
Conference held at Coimbatore on 23-06-10 to 27-06-10.

11) Mega Summer Camp
Mega Summer Camp at New Delhi on 19th to 30th September‟2010, E.Rajkunmar, III B.A,
Periyar EVR College, Tiruchy a NSS volunteer selected to participate in the camp.
12) World Classical Tamil Conference
World Classical Tamil Conference at Coimbatore – 2010. NSS Implementing Colleges of
Bharathidasan University participated in Semozhi Classical Tamil Mini Marathan Thodar Ottam in all 8
districts under its Jurisdiction.
The list of Prize winners of Tiruchy district colleges conducted on 12-06-10.
Sponsored prizes:
10 first prizes for male – Rs.2000 each
10 second prize for female – Rs.1000 each
and distributed the 4000 certificates to the participation of semozhi thodarottam.
13) Observation of International Day
NSS Implementing Colleges of Bharathidasan University conducted the Observation of
International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking Programme 26th June‟10.
14) General Orientation Course
2 Male & 1 Female (1.Mrs.A.Geetha-Smt. Indira Gandhi College, Tiruchy, 2.Mr.KNarayanasamy –
Bharath College of Science & Management, Thanjavur, 3. Dr.K.Duraiarasan - Govt. Arts
College,Kumbakonam) Programme Officers were detailed to attend the General Orientation Course,
NSS Regional Centre, at TORC, Chennai from 14-07-10 to 23-07-10.
15) SADBHAVANA DIWAS DAY
Sadbhavana Diwas day observed from 20th August 2010 to 3rd September in all NSS Implementing
Colleges of Bharathidasan University. Sadbhavana Day Pledge was administered to NSS Volunteers of
all Colleges.
16) National Level Essay competitions
Five NSS Volunteers (S.John Abraham, M.Raja, Nitin Panwar, J.Jesuraj, A.Mariya Emlda Jose –
Bharath College of Science and Mgt., Thanjavur) from Bharathidasan University took part in the
National Level Essay competitions held in celebration of IYD on 20th August ‟10 at Rajiv Gandhi
National Institute of Youth Development.
17) Refresher Course

18) SAARC Youth Award
The Nomination of Mrs.V.Vijaya, Srimathi Indira Gandhi College, Tiruchy was forwarded for
SAARC Youth Award Selection 2010 to NSS Regional Centre, Chennai. She was One out of 8
Candidates appeared for the Selection for SAARC Youth Award 2010. The Committee constituted by
the Hon‟ble Vice-Chancellor, Comprising 3 Syndicate Memebers of Bharathidasan University selected
the candidate on 19-08-2010.
19) Ilavattam 2010
1000 NSS Volunteers attended Sports & Games and Cultural Competitions Organized by TANSACS
with RRC of Bharathidasan University in the University level. Among them 24 NSS Volunteers
competed at the State Level won First Prize in Mimicry and Third Prizes in Sreet Theatre and
Oratorical contests on the event of Ilavattam – A Cultural Carnival held at Nehru Stadium, Chennai
which was presided over by Hon‟ble Cheif Minister of Tamil Nadu.
20) Ozone Day :
1000 (NSS Implementing Colleges) Volunteers Camp to the College bicycle to create awareness
about saving Ozone to the Public.
Volunteers also distributed to the public the pamphlets with instruction to product environmental.
21) NSS State Award 2009-10
Nominations were called for the State Award 2009-10 for best NSS Programme Officers. 5
Female Programme Officers, 5 Male Programme Officer and 10 Girls Volunteers, 7 Male volunteers had
filed their nominations for the State Award 2009-10 for the best NSS Volunteers.
Committee Comprising 3 Syndicate Memebers of Bharathidasan University, constituted by the
Hon‟ble Vice-Chancellor, scrutinised the Proformae and selected 3 NSS Programme Officers and 5 NSS
Volunteers for Best NSS Programme Officers & Best NSS Volunteers awards selection on 2010.
The Selected nominations were forwarded to the State NSS Cell Office, Chennai on 31st August 2010.
22) Teachers Day
NSS Volunteers Celebrated Teachers Day (Jamal Mohamed College, Tiruchy, Bharathidasan
University, Seethalakshmi Ramasamy College, Tiruchy, Cauvery College for women, Tiruchy, Smt.
Indira Gandhi College, Tiruchy) on 5th September „2010 by distributing Sweets.
23) Orientation Course

24) NSS Pre-RD Parade Camp
NSS Pre-RD Parade camp on 16-09-10 at Bharathidasan University Campus, Tiruchy. 104 Male NSS
Volunteers and 56 Female NSS Volunteers turned up for the parade event and 12 Male NSS Volunteers
and 7 Female NSS Volunteers for the cultural Event. The Committee Constituted for the selection

25) NSS Special Camp at Bharathidasan University Main Campus :
NSS Unit of Bharathidasan University, conducted the seven days Special camp from 14-09-2010
to 20-09-2010.
Above 1000 NSS Volunteers from 18 NSS Colleges from Tiruchy district, took active
participation in the camp held from 14-09-2010 to 20-09-2010 the University Campus.
The Objective is to create awareness among college students of environmental protection,
avoiding use of plastic items, developing leadership traits among the participants and national
integration.
26) National Youth Corps (NYC) Volunteer Selection
Only two applications received till 30th August 2010 which was the deadline. In
Consultation with the Head of the NSS regional Centre, Chennai, an interview for the selection has
been fixed on 16.09.2010. The Committee constituted by NSS Regional Centre Office, Chennai. NYC
volunteers (Mr.S.Perumal, Jeyankondam, Ariyalur District and Ms.T.Mallika, Moolakkurichi, Namakkal
District) selected two forwarded for further action.

28) NSS Day Celebration:
NSS Day was celebrated on 24.09.2010 in a grand style in all NSS Implementing Colleges of
Bharathidasan University.
29) “Green Tirchy Movement”
Bharathidasan University, NSS Organized an awareness Rally for a “Green Tirchy Movement”
on 1st October 2010 Friday at 3 p.m. in Tiruchy for about 2 kms from KAP Visvanathan Higher
Secondary School to St.Joseph‟s College, Tiruchy about 500 NSS Volunteers took part in the Rally
actively.
30) NSS Pre-RD Selection Camp
NSS Pre-RD Selection Camp for South Zone by Govt. of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs and
Sports was held at MAM College of Engineering Technology, Siruganur, Tiruchy from October 11th to
20th October 2010.
In this Pre-RD Selection Camp 6 Female volunteers and 5 Male Volunteers for a Parade team and
one Female & one Male Volunteers for cultural team represented Bharathidasan University,
Tiruchirappalli.
In this Valediction function Hon‟ble Vice-Chancellor of Bharathidasan University
Prof.Dr.K.Meena graced the occasion by her August presence in the function.

Pre-RD Parade Camp Valediction
31) “World Sight Day”
To Mark the Celebration of the “World Sight Day” on October 14th 2010 Bharathidasan
University, National Service Scheme organized a rally with 700 NSS Volunteers in collaboration with
Joseph‟s eye hospital, Tirchy which organized a week long a Free Eye Camp for the public. The rally
started at Joseph‟s Eye Hospital and ended at Central Bus Stand Tiruchy Covering the distance of 5
kms. to create the awareness among the public for Eye Care.
54) Environmental Awareness Rally
NSS Units of Valluvar College of Science and Management, Karur district organized an
Environmental Awareness Rally on 12-10-2010 above 300 NSS Volunteers participated actively in the
Rally.
55) One day Orientation Training Programme
Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education, Tiruchy and TANSACS Chennai organized on
14.10.10, a One day Orientation Training Programme for the NSS and RRC implementing, Govt.
College Principals of Tiruchy, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagappattinam, Karur, Ariyalur, Perambalur,
Puddukkottai Regions. NSS Coordinator participated as resource person in the Training Camp.
