    Day care centers %ere established under (e*ublic Act +-. also /no%n as

    0Baranggay 1otal Develo*ment and !rotection o2 Children Act3# Day care centers aretas/ed in birth registration, com*letion o2 immunization series, gro%th, and nutrition

    and *rovide su**lementary nutritional 2ood# San Isidro Day Care Center, located at

    Baranggay San Isidro, City o2 San 4ernando, !am*anga, is one o2 the day care

    centers established under this act# It caters 55 children6 .7 2or the 7:88 to 99:88 AM

    session and .- 2or the9:88 to :88 !M session, and is ;rst develo*ed under the

    !hili**ine /no%n as DS=D today?# It %as *art o2 the

    Arrianne %as res*onsible in loo/ing 2or a day care center# It %as also decided that

    day that %e %ill give the students a set o2 school su**lies# 1he grou* %ill also

    *rovide merienda 2or the teacher and the /ids# Arielle and Dheille are the *eo*le in

    charge 2or the 2ood# A ;rst aid /it %as also re'uired# 4ortunately, Christians 2amily

    had a clinic so %e got it 2or 2ree# 1he /ids %ill not be able to *rocess and retain the

    in2ormation 2ully so Anna %ill be *rinting *am*hlets 2or the *arents to /ee*# 1hat

    *am*hlet %as 2rom the %ebsite o2 !A$@ASA# All members %ere assigned to diEerent

    tas/s that they %ill on the drill it sel2# arl, Dheille, and (hys %ill discuss %hat the

    things that *eo*le should remeber and do be2ore, during and a2ter an earth'ua/e#

    1he *eo*le assigned in controlling the cro%d %ere Jassim, Myg, Finz, and Simone#

    Sher%in, "duard, and Ayie are going to distribute the 2ood# Christian, Arrianne,

    Jenna, Judith, Jac'ueline, Anna, !roscien, Melissa, and Jonna %ill become

    ushersGusherettes on the day o2 the drill#

    Christian and Sher%in %ent to San 4ernando to *ic/ u* the shirts# 1he grou*

    had a meeting a2ter%ards to distribute the shirts and discuss the given tas/s to

    each member# Arriannes search gave us San Isidro Day Care Center CS4!# She and

    Jenna %ere also able to buy the givea%ays 2or the /ids# Arielle and Dheille %ere also

    able to canvass aEordable yet delicious meryenda 2or the /ids and the teacher# 1he

    *am*hlets %ere also already *re*ared by Anna# "verything %as all set 2or the

    earth'ua/e drill on the 9Hth o2 July#

    n the day o2 the earth'ua/e drill, our grou* decided to meet at one o2 the

    McDonalds 2ast 2ood chain in San 4ernando, !am*anga# =hen all the members

    arrived, %e %ent to the San Isidro Day Care Center together# =e rode a ee* to San

    Isidro the got oE at the tricycle terminal %here %e rode a tricycle going to the day

    care center itsel2# ur grou* had a little diculty %hen %e arrived at the venue# 1he

    ;rst class o2 the day care %as already over and %e %ere ust right then in2ormed

    that aside 2rom the a**roval o2 the barangay ca*tain, %e should also %ait 2or

    certain ocers 2rom !rovincial Disaster (is/ (eduction Management ce# 1his %as

    the case because %e %ere handling children 2rom .@H years o2 age and the concern

    %as that our method o2 *racticing the earth'ua/e drill %ould cause li2etime trauma

    to the children# 1he said concerns %ere settled %hen the teacher in2ormed us that

    there %ill be another class by 9 !M and %e could conduct the drill by then#

    At around 9. &&, the students began arriving6 by 9 !M they %ere almost

    com*lete# A2ter contem*lating %hether or not to start %ithout the De*"d ocers,

    our grou* *roceeded %ith the drill around 9:.5# =e began the drill by giving the

    childrens meryendas and e*lained our agenda to their *arents# Dheille, arl, and

    (hys re*resented the grou* through lecture# arl %as incharge o2 %hat to do be2ore

    an earth'ua/e# 1his contained sim*le e*lanation that in order to *re*are 2or an

    undetectable calamity such an earth'ua/e, %e mustve /no%ledge about it# Dheille

    %as incharge o2 the *ro*er demeanor during an earth'ua/e# In this *hase, our

    grou* as/ed %ho among the children %ould li/e to volunteer in sho%ing the *ro*er

    *osition# 1here %ere more than ;ve >5? that volunteered# ur grou*, 2ollo%ing the

    idea o2 the teacher o2 the day care center, used duc/s or 0bibe3 as an eam*le o2

    ho% they should *osition their body and hands# Lastly, (hys e*lained the

    *recautions a2ter an earth'ua/e# ur grou* told them to be cautious o2 a2tershoc/s

    or earth'ua/es a2ter an earth'ua/e as %ell as tsunamis# =e also too/ em*hasis on

    %hen to stay under a table and %hen to evacuate the *remises and other s*ecial

    notices# 1he rest o2 the grou* %ere acting as ushersGusherettes to the children#

    A2ter the lecture, %e continued the earth'ua/e drill %ith the *ractice o2 the

    0*abibe *ose3 %hile eiting the *remises# ur grou* lead, assisted, and lined the

    students outside the day care center %here there are no buildings to 2all over them

    i2 ever an earth'ua/e occurs# A2ter that, the teacher o2 the day care center also

    as/ed the *arents to do the same thing# 1hen, %e all %ent bac/ inside and had

    *hotos# A2ter that, %e gave our small gi2tsGremembrances and the ;rst aid /it# 1he

    children %ere dismissed a2ter%ards6 but even a2ter the dismissal, %e still got to

    have little chats %ith the *arents and children# Some o2 us even too/ the *leasure o2

    having another *hoto o* %ith the teacher#

    =e can consider the drill to be a success given that it %as everyones ;rst

    time to organize and conduct an earth'ua/e drill# 1he teacher also told us that %e

    did %ell even i2 the ocers that %ere su**osed to guide us came ust be2ore the

    *rogram ends# Konestly, this activity %as ust li/e any other re'uirement that needs

    to be done to *ass a course and get a hight grade# At least at the beginning# But the

    e*erience o2 educating the /ids and their *arents and sharing some *recious

    moments %ith them is as 2ul;lling as getting a high grade in any o2 our subects# =e

    might 2orget the *raise 2rom the teacher and the *arents, %e might even 2orget the

    grade that %e %ill get in &S1! but the smiles in the 2aces o2 the *arents, the

    teacher, and es*ecially the /ids, %ill be stuc/ in our memories 2orever#
