Speed the Light (STL) is the student-initiated, volunteer, charitable program that provides much-needed equipment to missionaries across the nation and in over 180 countries around the world. Since its beginning, STL has raised over $253 million for missionary equipment around the world. Speed the Light began in 1944 after Ralph Harris, then head of the National Youth Ministries department, prayed for a way to give A/G students the op- portunity to help missionaries in their work. Now, by providing ministry equipment to our missionaries, STL is training the young people of America to develop individual ownership of the Great Commission as they help our missionaries spread the gospel message to the lost. Today, Speed the Light is one of the most effective youth missions minis- tries in the church world. Assemblies of God students have accepted a great responsibility to voluntarily sacrifice and raise funds to purchase the equipment. STL operates with one guiding principle: All assistance must go to purchase equipment directly related to evangelism ("evangelism" is de- fined as propagating the gospel and instructing converts). STL equipment has not been nor is presently given for promotion, solicitation, or normal administrative functions. If our missionaries are going to get to where the lost live, it will be because of Speed the Light. Every missionary in the Assemblies of God will at some point fly, drive, or float to their destination in transportation that has been provided to them by our churches and students through Speed the Light. Airplanes, cars, vans, motorcycles, bicycles, trucks, buses, boats, horses, camels, donkeys, wheel barrows, etc., if it has wheels or hooves and can carry a missionary to a country, city, town, village, or under a card board box where someone is waiting to hear about Jesus, Speed the Light has provided it. We give so our missionaries can travel faster, preach clearer, and be heard louder, in order that Heaven might be a bigger place…filled with people from every nationality, color, and tribe who have accepted Him as their Savior.

Speed the Light

The concept is simple: we give so others can speed the light of the gospel to a world in darkness. This is accomplished by providing the "essential transportation and creative communication" equipment for missionary evan-gelism. Through modern transportation, radio, television, the printed word, and equipment for mass evangelism, our missionaries can better fulfill the Great Commission. Speed the Light (STL) is the student-initiated, volunteer, charitable program that provides much-needed equipment to missionaries across the nation and in over 180 countries around the world. Speed the Light began in 1944 after Ralph Harris, then head of the National Youth Ministries department, prayed for a way to give A/G students the op-portunity to help missionaries in their work. Now, by providing ministry equipment to our missionaries, STL is training the young people of America to develop individual ownership of the Great Commission as they help our missionaries spread the gospel message to the lost. Today, Speed the Light is one of the most effective youth missions minis-tries in the church world. Assemblies of God students have accepted a great responsibility to voluntarily sacrifice and raise funds to purchase the equipment. STL operates with one guiding principle: All assistance must go to purchase equipment directly related to evangelism ("evangelism" is de-fined as propagating the gospel and instructing converts). STL equipment has not been nor is presently given for promotion, solicitation, or normal administrative functions. If our missionaries are going to get to where the lost live, it will be because of Speed the Light. March On For

Missions

As we move into March we’re inching ever closer to the beginning of Spring. Even though sometimes Spring means wet yards and sloppy conditions, I think we can all agree that it’s also a beautiful season. Life begins to come back into God’s beautiful outdoor creation. In the same way that God brings life to His creation in the spring we have the oppor-tunity to try and bring life to peo-ple near and far through being ac-tive in Missions.

God has called each of us as believers to carry out the Great Commission which we find in Matthew 28. One way that we can actively be a part of carrying out the great commission is by helping, supporting, and partnering with missions both locally and abroad. March 22nd we will have Carol Feigleson here to share her heart with us about her time in Myanmar during our weekly worship time. That same weekend on Friday the 20

th our

Illuminate Students will also be hosting a STL Missions

From The Heart Of Pastor Micah banquet to raise funds as they strive to reach their goal of giving $11,000 to STL in 2015. Steve Tripp who is our District Youth Director will be coming in to share with us about missions, and his many trips which include going to India and Laos multiple times in the last few years. Christian Life Fellowship strives to help people become fully devoted followers of Christ, and within our vision we desire to see people impacted as a result of God moving through us. May we continue to help speak God’s life into those who we come into contact with at work, school, and in our communities as well as helping pray and support others who are out actively spreading God’s gospel around the world. Through students going on missions trips this summer, STL & BGMC emphasis, the missions outreach that we partner with at City on a Hill, and all of the missionaries we pray and support on a monthly basis may God continue to help the lost and hurting people in this world come into a true relationship and understanding of who Jesus Christ is.

Special Touch Ministries

Special Touch is busy creating and implementing STREAM (Special Touch Ready Emergency Assis-

tance Mission) Ministry Program. This includes creating two pilot STREAM locations in the United

States within the next 12 months. Special Touch will continue the current programs as well. Also Spe-

cial Touch is seeking new leaders to grow the Summer Get Away program in additional areas- such

as, Ohio, where interest has been shown. Special Touch leaders are working at growing the existing

programs across the country.

The ministry vision is being extended to working one-on-one with colleges. SAGU, a top Christian uni-

versity in Texas and North Central University in Minnesota are already working on developing teams

for hands-on learning. Southeastern University in Florida is working on similar programs raising up fu-

ture generations of disability ministry leaders.

Some of these programs can take years of general maintenance before they fully develop. The minis-

try in South Africa and Latin America, planting new seeds to grow the vision for disability ministry over-

seas is an example. Of course Special Touch ministry donors and volunteers continue to be the larg-

est segment of future ministry development. Special Touch is vibrantly alive; its vision is big and it’s

happening! Lives are being changed!

Hulbert Ministries Update

Accelerate Summit was held in Dallas November 10-30, 2014 for ministry leaders from nearly 60

churches and youth ministry organizations from across America. They gathered to pray, sharpen vi-

sion, and shape strategy to reach every student and school with the Gospel.

Pastor Kent Hulbert planned and presented a program which definitely helps reshape how ministries

prioritize reaching every student and every school. Many walked away with a new desire to make sure

the Gospel of Jesus is at the core of all they do.

Dennis & Kay Nelson

This year Dennis and Kay are continuing to work with an Iranian couple in Turkey using the study

guides which Kay has written. She teaches these biblical truths to others .This couple is anxious to

join the Nelsons in Georgia, but the Nelsons wonder if God doesn’t want to use them to reach Irani-

ans in Turkey. Please pray for this Iranian couple because life is difficult for refugees in Turkey.

The Nelsons were invited for an evening meal by an Iranian man and his American wife who lived

eight minutes from them. While there, the Nelsons met missionaries that they knew in Iran over forty

years ago – catching up on the news from past years. One of the main issues that Dennis has been

stressing in the Iranian church is their need to forgive one another from the heart. This is very difficult,

but they are beginning to see some results. Please pray for: good health, endurance, favor and open

doors with Iranians and wisdom to know God’s specific directions in ministry.

ruary 9, 2015

All members

were present.

Pastor Dave led in prayer.

The board approved the finan-

cial report for December as

presented and also approved

the financial report for January.

sponse from the nominating

committees work. We have

three individuals who will allow

their name to be presented at

the annual meeting. Marty

and how we can serve their

family as well as some Her-

the continuing costs of main-
