PRESIDENT’S POST

Rob Lake President, Natomas Park Master Association

Dear Members, After a very wet winter season, we are headed into the spring and summer months. The staff at The Club are busy preparing for another season of supporting our membership. At this time we are looking at the long range weather forecast. We need a week of perfect weather before the contractor can seal our pool decks and we can get the pools up and running. Chairs, tables, lounges and umbrellas are being checked for serviceability and proper repairs are being made. Your Board of Directors is working closely with the management team to fix some of the problems that have haunted our past. Our point of sale system is undergoing evaluation and will be utilized to its full potential. This will help both with time savings for you and inventory control for the Food and Beverage Manager. Our menu is being designed for expediency and quality with you in mind. We are looking forward to our Friday Happy Hour and other social events and want your experience to be positive. We want to hear from you. Make suggestions or comments utilizing the suggestion box, email at [email protected] or attend the Open Board of Directors meeting the fourth Wednesday of the month at 6:30PM. We have a very busy schedule ahead of us this month. In addition to Friday Happy Hour we have Family Bingo, Community Yard Sale, Bunco for Adults, Trivia Night, Hoppy Easter and the Global Family Festival. The dates and times can be found in the newsletter. Hope to see you and yours around The Club.

COMMUNITY

If you are reading this article, it is my assumption you care about your Homeowners’ Association and Club. This opens up a great segue to talking about Association and Club involvement. The traditional way to be involved at the NPMA is through the Board or the standing committees; however, we would like to expand on that premise and add even more avenues for involvement. Before I move on though, I would like to add that your Association is always looking for people to join committees and run for the Board. We also know that many that have not served on a Committee or the Board have great ideas that could benefit the Club and Association. We are now seeking candidates for the Board of Directors’ and we would also like those interested in serving on any of the committees - ACC, Finance, Club, Social and Safety Committees to reach out, so we can introduce you to these opportunities. We are especially in need of adding some interested members to the Club and Safety Committees, both of which are assisting with important Club projects.

Perhaps participating on the Board or a committee is not your thing. Don’t despair. There are certainly other ways to be involved in your Club and community. I have been made aware of various clubs that took place in the past, such as Golf, Crafts, and Wine to name a few. If you have an interest in a focus area, perhaps you would like to start a Club that

would meet at the Natomas Park Clubhouse. Ideas that come to mind are: Chess, Investment, Travel, Book, etc. I did talk to a small group of people at a recent Happy Hour that were interested in starting a ’30 Something’ Club to engage others of this general age group for fun and interaction. The ideas are endless and we welcome your input and initiative. One important item to note: We will have an application process for Association review to confirm that the Club is appropriate for this community. More to come on this in the near future.

We are looking forward to input from you and your fellow members for ideas that will bring the community together in fellowship, fun, and community growth. The Club at Natomas Park has a lounge, event room, conference room, three outdoor cabanas, and a large patio area that would be available for your Club use upon approved application.

We also are well aware that we have a diverse and highly skilled group of professionals in the Natomas Park membership. We may be reaching out to some of you to tap into your expertise as we continue to make improvements to the Club and community. We know that your ideas, experience, and creativity is a valuable asset to be utilized.

And this final note: As per the Harvard Women’s Health Watch, “Dozens of studies have shown that people who have satisfying relationships with family, friends and their community are happier, have fewer health problems, and live longer.”

See you at the Club…or maybe out on the street,

Kyle B odyfelt

SPRING TOUCH UP Spring is quickly approaching! This will be the 19th spring that the community has experienced. We know, we can’t believe it either! With 19 years come and gone, Management and the Architectural Control Committee (ACC) would like to remind you to review the exterior of your home this Spring for needed cleaning and/or paint touch ups. This will freshen up the look of your home and the community as a whole. Although minor exterior paint touch ups do not require application submittal, the repainting of your home does (including samecolor repainting). First things first, prior to painting, a Home Improvement application must be submitted for review by the ACC and the exterior of the home must be washed. Now is the perfect time to start shopping, planning, scheduling and starting the application process. The management office has a book of pre approved paint color schemes for use by members. If an application is submitted for a scheme in the book, the application will qualify for inhouse approval. In house approvals take a maximum of 10 days to complete. If you aren’t able to find a scheme that’s perfect for your home within the book, no need to worry! Members are always welcome to submit an application proposing a custom paint color scheme for review. A copy of the Home Improvement Application can be found in the Member Resource Center at the community’s website www.NatomasPark.com. As always, should you need assistance with the application process, or have any questions, please contact the management office at [email protected]. We look forward to assisting you with this process.

NATOMAS PARK NEWS

CANDIDATES SOUGHT

It’s election time and Natomas Park Master Association is looking for incredible candidates with the pride and desire to serve their community! The Association is pleased to announce that the Board and Delegate candidacy period is now open through Friday, April 12, 2019 at 4:00PM.

This year, there are TWO Board seats open, FIVE District Delegate and FIVE Alternate Delegate seats.

Here’s what to expect while serving as a Board member: Monthly meetings, including agenda and packet review time – 20 to 25 hours: Executive Session - Contract formation, personnel matters, delinquent assessments/liens/foreclosures, and legal issues. Open Session - Committee and management reports, financial summary, Club projects, old and new business. Members are provided two opportunities to address agenda items or make comments to the Board. Hearings - Member disciplinary action for CC&R and Bylaw violations. Member Committees - Act as liaison to at least one committee (Club, Social, Finance, Safety, etc.). Executive Committees - Two Board members meet via email or in person to review project scopes and bids, assess rules and policies, delegate duties to member committees. Additional meetings include - Orientation, strategic planning, special elections (Club Repair and Renovation, CC&R revision), and annual budget preparation.

So, what is a District Delegate? The Association is currently divided into five geographic districts for purposes of voting. The homeowner/members within each district elect their own Delegate and Alternate Delegate during the annual election. A Delegate’s role is that of voting on behalf of all members within his or her district on certain Association issues as need arises. The most common activity and obligation of a Delegate is electing Directors to the Board. Delegates are required to obtain “voting instructions from the Members” (accomplished by a vote of members) prior to acting. It is important that each member participates in all voting efforts for his/her opinion to be heard and carried forward by their Delegate.

If you’re interested in serving, please find the candidate forms on our website www.natomaspark.com under the Election Tab or you can stop by the Management Office. Please return the Candidate Information Profile to [email protected] by Friday, April 12, 2019 by 4:00PM.

MAIL THEFT AWARENESS AND PREVENTION Dear Residents, During the month of March, there were reports of mailbox burglaries in surrounding communities, and a report of one burglary from a cluster inside Natomas Park. With apparent renewed attention on targeting mail boxes in our community, please consider these tips to help deter theft and reduce the risk of identity theft. Report suspicious activity: If you see anyone who is behaving in a suspicious manner at a mailbox cluster, contact Paladin at 916-331-3175 or Sacramento Police at 916-264-5471. If you see someone actively forcing open a mailbox cluster, contact Sacramento Police at 916-732-0100. If you see an unsecured mailbox cluster, please report it to Paladin or the US Postal Inspection Service at 877-876-2455 option 3. Endeavor to pick up your mail daily, so that if thieves break in, there won't be anything to steal. If you are leaving on vacation, you can request the Post Office to hold your mail for up to 30 days, here: https://holdmail.usps.com/holdmail/. If you are planning to be away from home for a longer period, USPS offers mail forwarding services. If possible, switch to paperless billing for credit cards and bank

accounts and other services; your information can't be stolen if it's not being mailed to you. If your mail has been stolen, or your personal information might otherwise be compromised, there are steps you can take to protect yourself. If you are not already, you can request your credit history, for no cost, once a year from AnnualCreditReport.com. There are credit monitoring services such as LifeLock, however these are paid services, and we would encourage you to thoroughly vet such companies to see if they meet your individual needs. You can also “freeze” your credit by contacting the major credit reporting agencies, listed below. Equifax — 1-800-349-9960 Experian — 1-888-397-3742 TransUnion — 1-888-909-8872
