How is vulcanic eruption made?
Vulcanic eruptions
Volcanoes are made when two tectonic plates come together. When these two plates meet, one of them (usually the oceanic plate) goes under the continental plate. Afterwards, it melts and makes magma (inside the magma chamber), and the pressure builds up until the magma bursts through the Earth's crust.

Did you know that…
There are about 1300 active vulcanos on the Earth.

The biggest vulcanic crater is the crater of Toba vulcano on Sumatra,Indonesia.
Etna vulcano on Sicily is one of the most active world vulcanos. It has erupted more than 150 times since 1500 before Christ when it Was reported officially for the first time.
The word „vulcano” comes from the name of a Roman god of fire Vulcanus.
In 79 the eruption of Vesuvio destroyed flourishing cities of Pompeii and Stabiae, they were covered with six meter layer of ash and dust.
In 1902 the eruption of Mt. Pelle destroyed city St. Pierre on Martinique. From 30 thousand of residents only one person survived the cataclism, the one who at that moment was in the local prison.

Tsunami
A tsunami is a chain of fast moving waves in the ocean caused by powerful earthquakes or volcanic eruptions.
Tsunami has a very long wave. It can be hundreds of kilometers long. Usually, tsunami starts suddenly.
The waves travel at a great speed across an ocean with little energy loss.
They can remove sand from beaches, destroy trees, toss and drag vehicles, damage houses and even destroy whole towns.
Tsunami
Hawaii-The tsunami of May 23, 1960 was generated by a magnitude 8.3 earthquake in Chile. The 35 foot tsunami struck Hilo, Hawaii causing severe damage. 61 deaths were recorded and $23 million in damage occurred.
The most destructive tsunami
Thailand -26 December 2004 the tsunami wave, which travelled at about 500 miles per hour, even reached the eastern coast of Africa, which was almost 3,000 miles away from the epicenter.
