This section of the tutorial covers all steps necessary for reviewing a Performance Review using the Performance Management System.

The Process Overview will give you a visual idea of how the process works.

The Reviewing the Review section will guide you step by step on how to navigate through a Performance Review before certification.

Process Overview As you can see, after your one-on-one discussion with your supervisor, your first indication that you must review and certify your performance review is when you receive email notification

If you do not have email, notification will come from your agency’s HR office

From the Performance Management Main Menu screen, click the Certify/Finalize a Review button

The Review Menu appears showing your name, process level, and current position.

The most current rating period shows in the Select Rating Period area.

Click the Next button

If you do not see the current rating period, it is possible that you and/or your supervisor have not certified the performance plan.

Once the plan is certified, it will be available from the Review Menu.

Click the Next button

The overall rating now appears on the review menu for this rating period.

The rating definitions are provided next.

To review competencies, click the Competencies button.

Click the Next button

The Selected Competencies Screen appears listing the competencies and their performance rating

The rating definitions are:HP – High PerformingME – Meets ExpectationsNI – Needs ImprovementUN - Unsatisfactory

The Full Description button next to each competency provides additional information/details about the competency.

Click the Next button

To exit comments, click the Back to Selected Competencies button.

A red asterisk (*) indicates that your supervisor has made additional comments to the competency

To exit comments, click the Back to Selected Competencies button.

To review any development plan comments from your supervisor, click the Development Plan button.

Click the Next button

To exit, click the Back to Selected Competencies button.

You also have access to the Behaviorally Anchored Rating Scales documentation from this screen.

The link directs you to the appropriate group information based on your job group code.

When you click the Link to BARS Document button, a new web browser screen will open with the group information.

To return to the Selected Competencies screen, just close the web browser screen.

After reviewing the competencies area, click the Back to Review Menu button.

To review objectives, click the Objectives/Factors button.

The first objective appears with the addition of your supervisor’s evaluation of that objective.

To navigate between each objective, click the Next or Previous buttons at the bottom of the screen.

To exit objectives, click the Back to Review Menu button.

The Progress Review/Comments Area can be used by both you and your supervisor to communicate progress and issues.

Click the Next button

Click the Progress Review/Comments button.

The Progress Review/Comments Area screen appears.

To add comments, click in the Employee text box and being typing.You are limited to 10,000 characters, including spaces, for this text box

To save comments, click the Save Employee Progress Review/Comments button.

To exit, click the Back to Review Menu button.

Now you are ready to certify your performance review.
