When applicants click on the “Apply for USMLE” option, the following Application Instructions appear:

The applicant must check the box to certify that he/she read the application instructions, are familiar with the contents and agree to abide by the policies and procedures described therein, then click the “NEXT” button to begin an application.

After agreeing to the Application Instructions, the applicant then selects an exam (or exams) for which he/she wishes to apply. The applicant then proceeds through the online application, entering or verifying information and clicking the “NEXT” button to progress to each subsequent page:

If the applicant’s name is incorrect or has changed, he/she should select the “Name Changed” box. When checked, the screen will change to:

After the applicant checks the box to indicate agreement to the “Applicant Certification,” and clicks the “SUBMIT” button, the following appears:
*NOTE : If the applicant chooses to “SAVE FOR LATER,” the application will be stored on the website for two weeks. It will not be submitted to NBME for processing until the examinee returns to the application and clicks “SUBMIT.”
