Program HighlightsIssues Facing the Beer Distribution Industry

The following issues will be discussed during the 2014 NBWA Legislative Conference:

Tax Reform: House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (MI) has unveiled the Tax Reform Act of 2014. The draft proposal is the first step in the long process to overhaul the U.S. tax code. We need your help to articulate concerns about the proposal and to advocate your tax priorities. Now is the time to make members of Congress aware of the tax issues that are most important to your business.

Strengthening State-based Alcohol Regulation: Members of Congress need your input to fully understand the important relationship between your business and the state-based regulatory system that effectively meets the needs of consumers in your state. This relationship balances competition with effective regulation. Please make this important trip to tell your story to lawmakers on Capitol Hill! Together, we can preserve the state-based regulation of alcohol.

The Sober Truth on Preventing (STOP) Underage Drinking Act: In 2006, Congress passed the STOP Act which recognized that alcohol is a unique product that is best regulated by the states. This year, the law is up for reauthorization, and we need your help to secure co-sponsors! Schedule meetings with your members of Congress and ask them to join in supporting the reauthorization of the STOP Act.

Other Emerging Industry Issues: Beer distributors are facing a number of additional legislative and regulatory issues at the federal and state level. These include, but are not limited to, state regulatory challenges, federal regulatory enforcement issues and the legalization of marijuana.

Employee Benefits and Loss Control WorkshopWednesday, 8:00 a.m. – Noon Benefit Plans Tailored to Key

Employees Learn how to tailor your benefit plans to

meet your key contributors’ needs while benefiting your business and boosting key employee retention.

The Industry’s Greatest Safety: OSHA and Whistleblower Claims and How to Prevent ThemOver the last five years, OSHA has administratively changed how they do business and has issued a record number of citations costing businesses hundreds of thousands of dollars. This session will

The Perfect Pitch: Selling the Value of Alcohol LawsSunday, 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.
