Melingo Sad, funny, intense, bizarre, fascinating… welcome to the quirky, twisted sweepof Melingo’s wry bohemian universe – a fabulous, boozy, theatrical milieu whereTolstoy, Kafka, Piaf, Brecht, Waits and Cohen might find solace and unsettledlodging. His deep grouchy voice and his vividly sparse music well up from theworld of tango in its early days. Knives and romance, hallucinations, spirallingtwists of the brain and undiscovered romanticism… his insolent, anecdotal songsresemble daydreams, or thrillers, with swinging bursts, shady noises and thegrating, almost Dada-like echo of the craziness of a world stumbling on its lastlegs. A true tango original!

John Etheridge guitar Chris Garrick violin
John Etheridge (Soft Machine, Stephane Grappelli, Dizzy Gillespie, John Williams and NigelKennedy) and virtuoso violinist Chris Garrick (Van Morrison, Cleo Laine, Wynton Marsalis, BireliLagrene and Bryan Ferry) have been associated for many years starting with the Sweet Chorusproject and concurrently in duo.
The duo provides a feast of interplay, improvisation and eclectic repertoire. Both players makeextensive use of looping and other effects, creating exotic tapestries of sound, almost orchestralat times, yet can seamlessly switch to the most acoustic sound. They can evoke Reinhardt andGrappelli and then summon up the spirits of the electric avant-garde. They can roar, seduce andwhisper…
