Principal’s Report

School Council

I would like to offer the

opportunity for any interested

parents to nominate for our school

council for 2019. We have two

unfilled vacancies and it would be

great to get a couple of new faces

on council.

If you are interested please call me on 56 281455.

Attendance

I was quite shocked to see the level of absenteeism for many

of our students for term 1. Whilst we have a number of

students with perfect attendance (well done to you 13

attendance champs), there are many that are below 90

percent. To clarify, 90 percent attendance equates to 20 days

off per year or a day off per fortnight. 80 percent attendance

equates to 40 days or a day off per week.

Research indicates that attendance levels have a direct

impact on learning outcomes and I strongly urge all students

to attend school every day unless it is otherwise not possible.

We are looking for parent support in encouraging that your

child attends school every day.

School Athletics

Our athletics sports were held this week and I was blown

away by the behaviour and spirit of our students. Everyone in

our community should be proud of the culture that exists in

this school. The students are so inclusive and supportive of

others and the leadership demonstrated by our house

leaders was awesome.

I have not witnessed the level of participation that existed in

any other school. It is a pleasure to behold.

China Trip

Our 5 students and 2 staff are safely on the plane and

heading to China for two weeks of engaging in the culture

and language of our Asian neighbour. It is a great opportunity

for them to experience a very different culture and to meet

students at our Sister School in Changshu. I know that they

will have an amazing experience.

Finally I want to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable term

break.
