Celebrating 20
Nefertari British International School
Nefertari opened its doors in August, 1996 with a large number of students from K up to 3rd Secondary, and a very selective team of educators led by Mrs. Nadia Hafez.
Nefertari has always had its own ethos reinforced by a set of shared values and well defined guiding statements (mission and vision).
Following the Language School, Nefertari American International School;
Nefertari British International School; College International de Nefertari ;
Nefertari Deutsche Internationale Schule and Nefertari IB opened their doors.
In 20 years, there are OVER 8000 Nefertari alumni. Many of them have become prominent characters in the local as well as global societies.
We take pride in the Nefertarians who joined the teaching staff and proved to be the best quality of teachers as they have been equipped with the sense of responsibility needed for life-long learning and we also take pride in the Nefertarians who came back as parents.
We will post the details of the celebration to our website. Mark your
calendars accordingly!!!

We are glad to welcome all the new staff members that joined
the NBIS family as well as those who have assumed new posts wishing
all those who have left the best of luck!
N B I S G A Z E T T E
We, the NBIS staff and administration, are happy to welcome you to another exciting year at NBIS! We hope you have all had a wonderful summer and ready to begin the new school year. We are looking forward to a fruitful and productive partnership with you to ensure our students can achieve their highest potential. As we are trying to keep improving; new very experienced teachers have joined us ready to make more positive contributions to the school. A very warm welcome to the students who have joined NBIS this year. We are sure you will settle in and be part of the family quickly.. We are always proud of our students!!
School Day & Timetable
NBIS day starts at 7:10 a.m. till 2:45 p.m. School gates will close at 7:15 sharp. Late students
will be admitted to school through the main reception according to the late arrival policy stated
in the Student-Handbook.
NBIS timetable consists of 6 lessons and a break, each is 60 minutes.
Give Your Used Things A Second Chance!
Walk around your home and collect items you and your family no longer need ,
however are still in good shape,— that shirt that’s been hanging in the back
of your closet for three years, the school bag that you are no longer using, the
pair of trousers that has outgrown, etc. Get those items to school (clean and
ironed) as we will always be carrying out garage sales for the school workers and Da-
das . All items will be sold at one unified price, L.E. 5 and the revenue will be donated for
charity.
Donating items that are in very good working conditions, contain all of their pieces and parts, and are free of stains and rips is
the best way to ensure that your goods do the most good. YOU CAN ALWAYS USE YOUR OLD THINGS TO RENEW
SMILES ON FACES.

NBIS & NAIS are now CIS Members
I n order for an international school to become a member in the CIS, it must go through a strict
inspection process which finally proves that the quality of education offered, satisfactorily meets the international standards. Last year, NBIS & NAIS went through this strict inspection. Mr. Christopher Maggio, CIS SSEO, left no stone unturned by visiting classrooms, holding discussions with parents, students, staff members, administrators and the school leadership team. In addition, Mr. Maggio closely inspected all of the school’s administrative and financial documents to gain a broad view of the school’s operation as a whole. One of the major aspects of the inspection was to make sure that the school is highly effective in meeting the goals of its guiding statements (mission and vision). On 10th December, 2015, NBIS received an outstanding report from the CIS which emphatically stat-ed that NBIS is an exceptional school. We would like to share extracts from this report: “Many of the parents and students found it hard to think of anything they would change in the school to make it better.” “Students of the NBIS expressed that they feel school is their second home and their learning and well-being is the top priority of their teachers.” We are all extremely proud of this achievement and would like to thank all of the parents who participated in assessing the school.
Nefertari is a distinguished educational organisation, this means that we will not relax and have enough of what we already have. We will continue to move forward, ensuring that our goals are always buoyed.

The axis of NIS philosophy is that the educational process is not about teaching, but about learning. We have a responsibility to ensure a successful education experience for every child in our school community and enable our staff to develop the knowledge and skills they need to address students’ learning challenges. Thus, school-based professional development workshops were attended by NBIS teachers before the students arrive. The workshops were about:
Flipped Classes Time Management Strategies of Effective Teaching
School camp is a fantastic opportunity for children to develop new skills, friendships and interests. Students of Y 5, 6 & 7 had the ultimate fun challenge away from the curriculum and out of the classroom doing sports and recreating. They had an experience that would last a lifetime of spending the night at school. At camp, students had the opportunity to learn about acceptance, caring, independence, and decision making by connecting with students they don’t regularly talk with at school.
To our dear graduates, Pease follow your passion, stay true to yourselves, share your sparkle wherever you are and what is more important is make a difference in the world around you.

The majority of our students have a very good attendance record, with some students managing to
attain a full attendance record.
Unfortunately there are a number of students in our school whose attendance was poor last year. Your
child's regular attendance has to be a priority as this is crucial to their realising their full potential in
their education (Refer to the Handbook– Attendance Policy - P. 15)
Students are NOT allowed to bring their
mobile phones to school under all
circumstances. In case a student did not
abide by this rule, the mobile phone will be
confiscated till the end of the YEAR.
School uniform must be fully worn and respected on all school
days. No track trousers or sweat pants are allowed
(Refer to the Student Handbook – Dress Code– P. 20)
School activities will start after the Eid Vacation.
You will receive a special circular explaining the
activities and houses system for this scholastic
year.
It’s important for parents to understand the numerous elements of their children’s journey at NBIS. One of the key documents that outlines the student experience is the Student Handbook. When students become a member of the NBS community, the parents sign a
“Mandatory Parental Acknowledgement Form” agreeing that their child should abide by the Life style Standards and Values, as well as the Community Policies outlined in the Student Handbook for as long as they are enrolled as a student.
You must print the Acknowledgement form out at the end of the Student-Handbook, sign it and send it to school. The Student Handbook is only available online and can be accessed by student and parents alike, at www.niscl.com/NBIS//NBISStHndbk.
