Image Sensor
• Super 35mm size • Large sensor • Single sensor, bayer filter • Global shutter • 4096 x 2160 • HD operation is always ‘centre crop’ mode
• Very similar to the sensor in the F55 – Excellent dynamic range – No rolling shutter – Proven image quality
Sensitivity: T5.6 (at 2000 lx with 89.9% reflectance. For 4K/59.94P (8×))
Why single sensor?
• Clocking speed and data handling
– 3 sensor camera: 4096 x 2160 x 3 x 400 = 10 billion photo-sites per second to be measured.
– High speed clocking needs more room for the plumbing...more space on a S35 sensor
– Choosing the right compromise. – Sensitivity / Resolution / Speed / Dynamic Range
Lenses
• PL mount • Canon CN20x50 is a popular choice
– 50mm-1000mm focal length. Equivalent to 21-416mm 2/3” B4
– Needs a lens supporter (Vocas) • Fuji Cabrio and Canon CN7 also work well
– Full on film style lenses need servo focus / zoom drives.
• B4 adapter included – Only 1.2x magnification for use in centre crop
(HD) mode – Can use third party 2.4x adapter for 4K, but
significant light loss.

Processing
• It’s all very well having a lot of pixels... – RAW style workflow – Two box solution – HFR data on the server
• It’s all very well having a wide colour gamut sensor... – A box to put your colours in.... – Choice of colour spaces for ‘709, ‘2020 or film style
• It’s all very well having a wide dynamic range sensor – You need a log type gamma to squeeze it through the existing doorway – And proper control of simultaneous HDR and SDR outputs

XAVC before it can be accessed by other systems.
