Guidelines: An item may be checked-out for 2 weeks at a time.

There is no limit on the number of items a person can check-out at one time.

You are responsible for picking up and returning the materials to the Northeast Missouri

(NEMO) Area Health Education Center (AHEC) office at 312 S. Elson, Kirksville, Missouri.

To check out an item, complete the NEMO AHEC Lending Library Reservation Form and return to

the NEMO AHEC office.

Note: Spanish literature is located within each topic and the same items are also listed again in

the Spanish literature section.

Literacy Levels: All literature has been assessed for readability using the SMOG assessment.

SMOG (Simple Measure of Gobbledygook) was developed by G. Harry McLaughlin in 1969. The

formula is based on the number of words with more than 3 syllables per sentence. A sample of

30 sentences from each piece of literature was used to determine the readability.

o For lower literate populations (below 6th grade reading level), items marked with may

be appropriate.

o For the general public (reading levels between 6th and 8th grade), items marked with

may be appropriate.

o For high literate populations (above 9th grade reading level), items marked with may

be appropriate.
