The public hearing on the budget will be held on May 15 at 7 p.m. in the city council chambers. The council, by unanimous vote, adopted the tentative budget for the coming year at a council meeting on Tuesday night. “By state law, each year the staff is required to present at or before the first meeting in May a tentative budget,” said Seth Atkinson, city adminis- trator. The city’s budget document containing the tentative bud- get can now be found under the Finance Department on the city website. Atkinson said that he was happy to have the budget avail- able to the public on the city website. Navigation through the various funds is found on the left sidebar on the site. He said that he had made a goal to have the budget num- bers all there for the tentative budget. “This is one of the most im- portant documents the city has,” said Atkinson. “I have al- ways loved the budget.” He said that the budget mes- sage contains many of the pri- orities identified by the council in the budget retreat sessions. “The assumptions behind the budget will be discussed in the work session following the regular meeting,” he said.
