Missionaries in our own

BACK YARD

Introducing our NBA Family to

Michael & Denise Wright

Greetings,

We are Mike and Denise Wright, a couple of your recently retired SBC missionaries. We are living in Goldsbo-ro and are members of Adamsville. In addition to being the pastor of 3 churches, we have served overseas, on your behalf, and with your prayers and support for 18 years. We were first ap-pointed in 1988 with what was, at that time, the FMB (Foreign Mission Board) to serve in South Korea. Mike served as a general evangelist and church planter working primarily with national pastors and their churches. In addition to home school, Denise was involved in women and children’s ministries, spent time with pastor’s wives, and was a co-worker with the Korean national WMU leadership. Of course, there were al-ways other projects to be involved in from time to time during the 7 1/2 years we lived there.

We were reappointed in 2006 by the now IMB (International Mission Board). We lived and worked in India and most of the surrounding countries for 10 years. We became a part of the LEAD team (Leadership, Equipping and Development) for most of South Asia. Our assignment was to be traveling theology and Bible teachers throughout South Asia. Our tendency was to be on the road and away from our apartment for about 7 months a year, or more if needed. We lived out of a suitcase and on trains and planes more than in our apartment! Our target people groups were mostly pastors, evangelists, their wives and other church leaders who simply needed more teaching. It con-tinually involved multi-lingual classes, multi-tribal, and many students with lit-tle or no literacy skills. But, the entire theme of our job assignment was based on 2 Timothy 2:2 — teaching people to teach other people, who will faithfully teach other people, who will also teach others. We were not just teaching. We were training trainers to go to their own peoples and tribes with the message of Christ. Whenever our schedule is avail-able, we will always be glad to speak to and share with the churches of the Neuse Baptist Association. We are just a phone call away. The Association office will always let you know how to contact us.

Note: The Wright’s would be great speakers for Missions emphasis night during your church’s VBS!

Neuse Notes from Jon

May and June celebrate two of my favorite holidays. No, I’m not refer-ring to my Birthday, but to Mother’s Day & Father’s Day. My advice to folks is to give spe-cial gifts to honor your Mother and Father that do not have to cost money. Jan Rouse told me a story of a lady who raised three sons. It was a challenge, but she did it successfully. The oldest decid-ed to show his appreciation by buying his Momma a fine new house. The second son gave her a fine car and the youngest heard of a parrot who was trained at a monastery to quote the entire Bible on command; but this parrot required $10,000 a year to be donated to the monks for ten years. He realized this was a lot of money, but his Mother was losing her eye sight and it would make a reward-ing gift for her. At Christmas, the boys got togeth-er with family and the oldest asked his Mother how she was enjoying her house. She replied how beautiful it was but she could only afford to heat one room. She also felt obligated to clean the whole house. The second son puffed his chest and inquired how she enjoyed her new car. Her reply was that her bad eyes did not allow her to drive anymore so although it was a fine gift, she was usual-ly at home and alone. Finally, the third son asked how she was enjoying his pre-sent to her. She smiled and bragged on how thankful and practical he had been; in fact, she said, “It was the best chicken that I’ve ever eaten!”

Practical gifts are good and often inexpensive. I would recommend that we all accept Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. This gains us Godly conditioning as He rules as Lord of our life. It’s im-portant to show others that God’s promis-es are valid and allow us to make eternal-ly mature decisions, especially as we train up our children. This also yields security and stability in our home as oth-ers see how much we love our parents. Another recommendation is to listen more to our parents, spouse and our children. This respect births real love, as the important things in life are usually the little, everyday things. As we practice this sincerely, real appreciation bonds us together and allows “quality time” to be-come the rule rather than the exception. Build a great family, encourage each other, laugh together and spend reg-ular time in the power of earnest prayer. Big expensive gifts are OK but thought-ful, unselfish gifts are the best.

Church Audio

Technician

Every week, musicians and singers in

churches spend hour upon hour practicing

for their worship service, only to have that

presentation hampered by an audio team

The Worship Ministry of the Baptist

hour audio seminar that addresses the

basic skills that an audio technician needs

to be successful in the local church. At-

tendees will receive hands-on training in:

Basics of Sound

Understanding the Role of the Audio

Technician

Understanding the Functions of the

Mixer, Equalizer, Monitors, Micro-

phones and other equipment.

Kinston First Baptist Church is hosting

this training on July 15-16. Fees vary be-

tween $20-$50.
