Neutrals and Pastels
Objective: You will define neutral and pastel colors in order to apply these color schemes to your designs.DRILL:Find your neutral and pastel spots in your sketchbook.1. Draw simple line/ shape designs in those boxes. 2. Draw a design in the my
choice box.3. Use Retro Art folders for
inspiration.
• Neutral usually means without color. Neutral colors such as beige, ivory, taupe, black, gray, and white appear to be without color, and yet in many applications these hues often have undertones of color.
Pastels
• Tints of a color• White is blended in.• Used in nurseries
for babies and at wedding.
• Soft, subtle colors.
My color scheme:1. Draw a design.2. Pick 3-5 colors only.3. Paint it or fill with
magazine pieces.
PASTEL and NEUTRAL:4. Paint with the correct
color scheme; neatly.5. Or fill the shapes with
small pieces of colored magazines.

Color MixingObjective: You will use color mixing
techniques in order to make color schemes.
DRILL:1. Get a paint tray and
painting supplies.2. Make as many colors as
you can. Try to make 20 or more for 20 points.
3. Today’s goal is to finish your art element pages.
Paint Storage and Care:1. Use a tray that is in the bag.2. Pump only one pump or a half a pump. (conserve paint)3. Mix on mixing trays.4. Do not pump onto mixing trays.
Clean up:5. Trays go in bag with cardboard on top. (to protect paint and bag)6. If you want to store it with your sketchbook, put your name on tape on bag with
sharpie.7. Brushes get washed and stored bristles up.8. Put trays in nice neat pile.
Paint Trays:9. Use the extra paint first.10. Never ever put paint in the sink.11. Dump in trash or paint a page in your sketchbook.12. Then WASH YOUR TRAY.

artwork have?2. How could you make it
analogous?3. Draw a circle on your page.
4. Draw another circle in it to represent how much paint you should pump into the palette.
5. What is a tip for painting neatly and to get more control over your brush?
