NEWS Dr. Naidorf Honored by Israel Bonds Continuing Education Course to Focus on Bone Repair and Regeneration This year, at their 41st annual session, the AAE will present a continuing edu- cation course on the "Biological and Clinical Aspects of Bone Repair and Regeneration". The day-long course will provide a complete update on bone, with emphasis being placed on cellular physiology and histology, bone formation and resorption, and the bio- logical parameters of bone grafting re- lative to repair and regeneration. The latter will be discussed at length and highlighted within clinically relevant parameters. Newer forms of synthetic grafting material will be discussed rela- tive to biological response and clinical usage. Four top-notch speakers will partici- pate in the course including J.N.M. Heersche on bone histophysiology, An- tony H. Melcher on wound healing in the bone including periodontium, James T. Mellonig on biological and clinical as- pects of bone repair and regeneration and Gerald M. Bowers on correction of intrabony defects -- state of the art. Registration packets with detailed CEC pamphlets and registration forms were mailed to members in January. Non-members are invited to request a packet by writing to the AAE Central Office at 211 East Chicago Ave., Suite 830, Chicago, IL. 60611. On November 3, 1983, AAE Journal editor Dr. Irving J. Naidorf received the prestigious Maimonides award for his philanthropic support of the State of Israel. Dr. Naidorf was honored in a testimonial dinner at the Grand Hyatt Hotel which was hosted by the State of Israel Bonds, New York Division. The principal speaker at the dinner was the Reverend John S. Grauel, hero of the refugee ship "Exodus." In addition to this award Dr. Naidorf, in 1981, was made an honorary member of the Israeli Endodontic Symposium when he lectured at the First International Endodontic Symposium at the Hebrew Hadassah School of Medicine. Dr. Naidorf is the Edwin S. Robinson Pro- fessor of clinical dentistry, chairman of the division of endodontics and assis- tant dean for postdoctoral education. He is a Diplomate, and former director and president of the American Board of Endodontics. Dr. Naidorf's other honors include fellowships in the Amer- ican College of Dentists and in the Royal Society of Medicine.
