Course Assessment at AH assesses Added Value
Course at AH is graded A – D, as at present
Controlled Assessment of setting, conducting and marking
For AH Graphic Communication there are 2 Components:
– a Project (60%)
– a Question paper (40%)
No dual running at Advanced Higher in session 2015-16
AH Graphic Communication – Question Paper
• 80 marks (40% of award)• 2 hours• sampling across all course content• application of knowledge and understanding• drawing from technical graphics and
commercial and visual media graphic contexts equally

Two sections• section 1: 50 marks – limited response type
questions covering both Units• section 2: 30 marks – 2 longer structured
questions – one each of technical graphics and CVMG contexts

1. Will your project topic allow you to apply some knowledge and skills of Graphic communication at Advanced Higher level as written in the ‘Further mandatory information on Course coverage’ section of the Course Assessment Specification in either or both of technical graphics and commercial and visual media graphics?
2. Will your project topic require you to apply some knowledge
and skills from your own research?
3. Will the project topic allow you to apply generic skills in planning, research, analysis, problem solving and evaluation?
4. Will you be able to complete it in the time available?
5. Can all potential barriers to you carrying out your project be overcome, for example: health and safety issues, permissions, and logistics?
6. Do you have access to any necessary expertise, resources and equipment?
