New and improved Ultramarine Blue

Spanish firm Nubiola InorganicPigments has developed a highperformance Ultramarine Bluepigment for exterior coatings,called Nubicoat High WeatherResistance (HWR). The productwas developed using an improvedsilica encapsulation process.Results of several accelerated andlong-term/natural weatherabilitytests comparing the new productwith different coatings showed thatNubicoat HWR is more superiorthan conventional UltramarineBlues, comparable and even betterthan Phthalocyanine Blues andvery near the quality of CobaltBlues. The material has a range ofapplications, including in facadeand interior decorative paints;powder, coil and plastics coatingsas well as in tinting systems forarchitectural and industrialcoatings.

A new brand of titanium dioxide isdeveloped by Huntsman Pigments

Huntsman Pigments hasintroduced Deltio, the secondbrand under the company’stitanium dioxide line. Offering thesame optical properties as thefirm’s Tioxide range, the newrange comes in an easy-flowform. Deltio 81X pigment is the

first easy-flow form product rolledout for the industrial coatingsmarket. An easy-flow form offersvarious benefits including a 20%faster transfer rate when used ina pneumatic system, and a 15%increase in line output when usedfor powder coatings. Meanwhile,the company also launched atEurocoat Tioxide TR88, a newversatile rutile titanium dioxidepigment.

Rilsan Techline: a new highperformance minicoat grade forundergarment adjusters

On 20 Nov 2008, Arkema, theleading supplier ofpolyamide/copolyamide powders,announced the birth of RilsanTechline, a new member of theminicoat family. Arkemadeveloped the minicoat processin the 1970s and designed aspecial range of Rilsan Minicoatpowders for this highly efficientpowder coating process. Sincethe 1980s, Rilsan Minicoat White1452 MAC nylon powder, alsosimply known as 1452, has beenthe industrial standard for nyloncoating powders used in theminicoat process, especially forthe coating of brassiere andundergarment adjusters. Over theyears, Arkema has invested inresearch, development,manufacturing and supply chainmanagement in order to fulfil theneeds of its customers. RilsanTechline brings various benefitsthroughout the manufacturingprocess of nylon-coated adjusters,

PPG introduces Duranar powdercoatings

PPG Industrial Coatings hasexpanded its line of Duranarliquid coatings with theintroduction of Duranar powdercoatings. The coatings have beendeveloped for monumentalarchitectural uses, includingbuilding panels, curtain walls andstorefronts. They contain no VOCand deliver the same level ofdurability, colour and glossretention, and chalk, corrosionand stain resistance as Duranarliquid coatings.
