Serving Police Officers Excellent physical and mental condition Minimum 5 years of service Fluent in mission working language Possess a valid Driver’s License, ability to

operate a four wheel drive vehicle Weapon handling and Shooting skills if

required Age (25-55yrs)

Five Responsibilities of PCC Request a visit by the UN SAAT in writing to the UN at least 3 months in advance.

Pre-select candidates based on the 2007 Guidelines.

Submit personal details of pre-selected candidates one month prior to the SAAT visit.

Once the PCC has submitted the list, no additions or substitutions can be made to it.

Responsibilities of PCC………… Nominate a Liaison Officer for the visit and

inform the UN name and contact details of this person one month before the SAAT visit.

Before the SAAT-visit, certify in writing that pre-selected candidates have not been convicted of, are not under investigation or being prosecuted for any criminal, human rights or disciplinary offence

Conclusion The Police Division has developed this

new assessment procedure in order to assist UN Member States to meet the challenge of seconding individual police officers who have the required skills to implement the increasingly complex mandates of UN missions effectively

The procedure does not apply to the selection of FPUs or police officers on UN contracts.
