During National Library Week from April 8-14,the Yankton Community Library will take part in anationwide celebration of libraries with the theme“Libraries: The Heart of Every Community.”
The following special events will take place:• April 9: National Library Week declaration at
Commission meeting; Kindle 101 Class with CathyBattin, 10:30 a.m.; Fancy Nancy party, 6:30 p.m.

On April 5, at 7 p.m., Master Gardeners BettsPulkrabek and Mary Klimczyk will present “StartingSeeds/Container Gardening and The Basics of Start-ing a Garden.” Betts and Mary will sprinkle in lots ofhumor with their seeds! Libraries Are Really At ‘TheHeart Of Every Community’
Fundraiser/Auction For Vermillion Museum SetVERMILLION — There will be fundraising/auction banquet at
the W.H. Over Museum’s Sletwold Hall, 1110 University, Vermillion,at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 31. This event will be assisted by 4-Hmembers.
Admission will include a meal, entertainment and an auction.Larry Larson will be the auctioneer as well as directing The High-way 50 Band for the featured entertainment.
Gayville Hall Presents ‘Hay Country Jamboree’GAYVILLE — Gayville Hall presents the first “Hay Country Jam-
boree” of its new season at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 31, in Gayville. Jamboree regulars, including country music hosts John and
Susan McNeill, banjo player and funnyman Daniel Kilbride, fiddlerOwen DeJong, and singer-guitarist Nick Schwebach will be joinedby Iowa’s “Singing Farmer,” Ervin Pickhinke.
Normally staged the first Saturday of every month April throughNovember, Jamborees always feature three-or-more musical actson stage together trading old-time tunes, country, bluegrass, andhumor by turn, according to Gayville Hall proprietor DougSharples.
The fast-paced shows are two hours long, including a short in-termission midway, and are presented in an alcohol-and-smokefree, family-friendly setting.

River City Cheer Extravaganza Slated SundayYankton’s River City Cheer program will hold its year-end Spirit
Extravaganza on Sunday, April 1, at the YHS Summit Activities cen-ter Gym. The event runs from 5-7:30 p.m.
Doors open at 5 p.m. with activities including a silent auction,chuck-a-duck and a raffle. Pizza will also be available at that time topurchase. The performances begin at 6 p.m.

The Lewis and Clark TheatreCompany has announced the try-out dates for the upcoming 51stseason-opening production of“The Wicked Witch Of Oz.”
Tryouts are scheduled for 7p.m. Monday, April 9, and Tuesday,April 10, at the Dakota Theater lo-cated at 328 Walnut Street. If un-able to make these two dates,special auditions can be arrangedby calling director Tara Gill at 660-7567.
Show dates for the “WickedWitch of Oz” are June 13-18.
Note that for the 51st seasonLCTC is adjusting their show datesin order to make it easier for awide variety of people to partici-pate. Non-musical productions willrun one week with six perform-ances from Wednesday-Monday.
“The Wicked Witch of Oz” is setin a small high school theatre pro-duction of the “Wizard of Oz.”Hecuba, the wicked witch of Oz,and her flying monkey, Nikko, sud-denly appear and quickly realizethey aren’t in Oz anymore. Desper-ate to return to Oz, Hecubah andNikko try to convince the ultimatediva, Dorothy, to surrender herruby slippers. When she refuses,Hecubah wrecks havoc on the set.This is a fun, fast-paced non-musi-cal show that you will want to beinvolved with.
The cast of “The Wicked Witchof Oz” calls for four males, 11 fe-males and one flexible role. Agesrange from youth-adult.
