Thank you for your generosity!! We are so grateful for the support of everyone associated with LCBC’s Be Rich! While their full impact can never be truly measured, know that the lives of so many in our community will be changed in an incredibly powerful way. Their monetary gifts have furnished our new bedrooms, but their donated labor shows love, which has done so much more.

THANK YOU!!

Thank you Berwick Health and Wellness Fund for approving a $30,000 grant for our Adult Counselor position. This grant also provides free counseling for the non-offending parent, to help the child and parent learn the best ways to handle emotional and behavioral issues. The Berwick Health and Wellness fund is the original and largest fund of the Central Susquehanna Community Foundation. It’s purpose is to improve the health and welfare of residents and communities of eastern Columbia and western Luzerne counties.

Thank You

Local Business Support

Beyond Violence is tremendously grateful to every person, community group, business and church that supports our work in operating a shelter in Berwick and providing 24-hour services to women and children in need. Your support sends a strong, affirmative message to the victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in our midst.

Thanks to you, women in crisis no longer have to choose between safety and the need to remain connected to their support systems within our community. They no longer have to leave their jobs, uproot their children from their schools and leave their families in order to get away from their batterers.

Local businesses make donations, give us discounts, support or offset expenses for fundraisers, display collection cans or posters, and/or participate in Our Safe Haven Project. Please support the businesses that support Beyond Violence.

Ask for Consent When you want to get close to someone — whether you’re hooking up for the first time or in a long-term relationship — it’s important to know how to ask for consent. When Asking for Consent: ASK YOUR PARTNER What they’d like to do. Be specific about what you’re asking. For example, “Do you want to mess around? Like cuddling and making out?” ASK YOURSELF Am I making it clear from my words, tone, and body language that I’m OK with the answer, no matter what it is? IF YOUR PARTNER SAYS NO Accept their answer. Never try to convince or guilt someone to say yes when they’ve already said no. IF YOUR PARTNER SEEMS UNSURE Play it safe and don’t go further. Instead ask them what they’d like to do. IF YOUR PARTNER SAYS YES You can move forward. Keep checking in to make sure they’re enjoying what’s happening. Consent is a skill - you get better as you practice.
