Sergio Rossi iniciou a sua carreira em 1950 ao trabalhar com o seu pai, sapateiro na região italiana de Romagna. Munindo-se das ferramentas necessárias, Rossi aventurou-se por Milão para aprimorar a sua paixão pelo ofício. No Verão de 1966 começou então a vender os seus sapatos a lojas em Bolonha e, a partir desse momento, fez questão de os apresentar como um acessório de moda indispensável.

A primeira loja a deter o seu nome situava-se em Ancona, tendo-se expandido internacionalmente durante os anos 80 e 90. Este sucesso culminou em 1999, quando a marca foi adquirida pelo Grupo Gucci. Em Outubro de 2008, Francesco Russo foi nomeado Director Criativo da marca, à qual soube imputar a sua interpretação contemporânea, conservando no entanto o respeito pela identidade da marca Sergio Rossi.

Sergio Rossi began his career in the 1950s working alongside his father, a shoemaker in Italy’s Romagna region. Armed with the tools and traditions he ventured to Milan to hone his passion for the craft. In summer of 1966 Rossi began selling his shoes to shops in Bologna and from that moment he presented shoes as an indispensable fashion accessory.

The first boutique to bear his name opened in Ancona, and the company expanded internationally through the 1980s and 1990s. This culminated in 1999 when it was bought by the Gucci Group. In October 2008 Francesco Russo was appointed Creative Director of the Sergio Rossi brand, giving his own contemporary interpretation, whilst respecting the Sergio Rossi brand identity.
