Twry’i ChatterHi again.

As my poem was published last week (page 2) the thrill and urge of writing has seemed tobecome so much a part of me that I find myself writing in my sleep! Of course their ara some who may think the writings of a 13 year-old is dull. Maybe it is but in statistics adolescent and child writing makas more sense than older or middle- aged writing. Anyway to judge literature is not my position and as 1 aaid I'm just a regular teen.

With the more experienced writers in this paper (better than I) I thought perhaps you'd like to see Lyndhurst a eighth-grader sees R.

Special—Congrats to the new commissioners, now pick a good Mayor, guys.

Gripes—What's the matter with our public library? Those overdue books hive been overdue too

Also, how’s about a youth club better than the one we had. WallI’ve written my column and

tt't Juat up te our U M Editor and Publisher if thii r th lM goes through.

Any hi-fl huff know* tha t tape provides one of th* best m»»m of obtaining hi-fl sound. Although th« term “tape recorder" is popularly Uastf, this unit in the Home mu*k- system is both a recorder and a p/«yfreefc device.

How does a tap* recorder work? Basically , sound is converted into e lec trica l im pulses, which in t u r n s r a c o n v e rte d to

magnetic impulses. Th* impulse* magnetise an iron ox id* coated tape, the tana on which th* recording is ^BA*. When a recorded tap* is played back, th* magnetic impulaes are con vested back to electrical impulses, then to sound.

Tapes are mor* expensive than records, but they will last indefin itely w ithout becoming noisy or worn. Many hi-fi and stereo enthusiasts asaembl* their own Upe record*rs with kits such as the TR-1AQ 4-Track Kit made by the Heath Company of Benton Harbor, Michigan. Choosing a low -cost model tha t runs smoothly snd quietly, they build their own stereo libraries.

Th* advantag** of the new 4- Track U pe r*els standardised by th* mduatry aee markedly reduced costs relative to playing time; improved quality; freedom from th* necessity of 1 e r pr*-p*rformsnces rewinding when plsying complete tapes.

THE COMMERCIAL LEADF.ll AND SOUTH BERGEN REVIEW

R e c e n t l y Mr. Khrushchev painted a rosy picture ef world peace for the month* and yean ahead. No bruehfire ware —but w hat about Laoe and tbe Congo? Only peaceful harmony between tbe Communist empire and the W eit. Ur. K. went on to forecast that Communism will eventually “liberate" the entire world because '‘history’' Hills i t

K u u u n history prove* that when the Soviet* talk ‘'peace”, they mean war! A look at the KeJ record revsals thet the Rus- .-ian* extend the olive branch or the clenched fiat according to v wi ld condition*, and with etjusl agility. But their only simthroughout Soviet history has been to tu rr every netion of the world with whom they ‘didbusiness” into a Red satellite.

I-et’s look a t Mr. K.’s “Ms- to ry ” or belter still a t Russian history and see how the Reds have used “peace’* to advance Med tyranny.

Did you know that the Soviet slave empire all began from a peace treaty? An agreementth a t seemed to kill Communismbefore it ever got off the. ground. The date — March 3, 1P18; the place — Brest-Utovsk, capital of the Polish province of Pole*ie.

Lenin and a h a n d f u l of trained agitator* had seiaed tontrwl of Russia in November, 1V17. The majority of Russian* didn’t know what wa* ga iacan — between fighting World War 1 and fighting among themselves. Lenin needed time to Ftabilize his Bolshevik rvjrime in Russia and establish a Comm unist apparatus for other nation*. Breaking away from the Allies, he signed a separate peace with Germany.

Un the surface* Lenin signed the most unfavorable peace trea ty the world had ever seen. He relinquished 600.000 square mile* of R u s s i a containing iid.OOO.OOO people along with a billion and a half in gold. Actually thi* giveaway was • s tra tegic design to buy time for the

nia. l a September — Bulgaria; in Decomber — Albania: ia 1947 — H ungary; ia IMS — Czechoslovakia; in l f l g — Poland.

Russia wanted no part of World W ar II. The Red* badto figh t to stay alive but they were not interested in wars against dictatorships. The Soviets have slw sys gi*«n top priority to the World War for Communism.

While we fought in Asia, Eu- rope, Africa and the Pacific, the R -i t! - saw no reason for teasing to build their Communist empire, no m atter whether their Allies won or lost the war.

Let us remember one incident from World War II to remind us of tbe u tter ruthlessnes* and perfidy of the Soviet Unian. Outside Warsaw in 1844, tha approaching Red army radioed the Polish underground in the city, urging them to attack the Na*i garrison. The Poles rose to the bait and made tba a t tack. fully expecting Russian support. Instead tbe Red army halted outside Warsaw until tbe Nazis had butchered 40,000 Polish patriot*. Then the Rada marched in, mopped up tke Nazis and set up tbe puppet Lublin regime.

I t haa taken tbe Ruseians only 44 years, using “peace" aad perfidy a* potent weapona, te become the second most powerful nation on the face of tbe earth. When this “ success story” ia flaunted before countries with a heritage of poverty, banger and disease, it becomes enormously effective propaganda. These countries are unaware a f the reign of te rro r and tbe aril- liona slaughtered aad starved fo r tb e greater fiery eC the Kremlin.

Wo m ust get this Rusaian history across te all tbe un t e a - nutted natione and to tboee teetering on the brink of Ceas muniam. But most im jw rtant —- we would do well te heap ia mind the history of Ba—iaa “peace" when Mr. K. begins ta sweet talk us with seductive offers o f “peaceful coexistence*.

However, Miss Just's action of civil disobedience was in the classic tradition that has lieen a heritage of the human spirit since time liegan. By now we should know how to cope with it.

But tlie magistrate involved got his back up and sentenced the girl to .10 days in the House of Detention, a place overcrowded with streetwalkers, purse snatchers and dope addicts.

Miss Just promptly became a heroin*, thc law an ass. All the magistrate had to do was fine the girl $10 and send her oi her way. The conviction would be a part of her record forevennore: she would have made her protest and that would have been that. If society find* it a black mark to be convicted for civil disobedience. Miss Jnst's punishment would have come through normal channels as she would have found and will find when she applies for a job. As it ia. the New York magistrate defeated hi» own pur|>ose.

Cuthbert Q. Cat. In Lyndhurat, an analysis of ita May 9 commis-ion vote showed that Horace R. Bogle Jr., the high candidate, received just 6.1 vote* more than a candidate whose name wasn't even on the ballot. Politicians facetiously refer to him as Cuthbert Q.C u t.

Cuthliert received nearly 4.000 votes— because voters failed by accident or by design to exercise their priveleget to vote for a full five.

It would l»e interesting to find out why some voters did not fill out their ballots.

There is no doubt that tbe machine voting disturbs folks. Tliere is no doubt that pulling down five levers on a ballot with 14 name* that shriek out at one with^ bewildering force would cause some to mis- eount. It is entirely possible that some voters pulled the lever three or four times and failed to pull the fourth or fifth to which ITiey were cntTtleiT.

There is also no doubt that some groups were urging tlie use of the “bullet**—a vote for one candidate and that is all.

But thc most amazing discovery was that the voting failure occured most in Lyndhurst** Fighth District—an area where the campaign was not at all healed, where none of the candidates resided. In the Fighfh District voter* failed to exercise tlieir privelege to an extent of 2.V,}.

The politicians are smoking their corn cobs over that one. The immediate solution to the mystery is the field of candidates failed to inipre** the F.ighth District with lhe urgency of their cause* and that many of the voters just didn't care enough to vote for five. ” * ~~

United States is in tenous trouble. The manner in which bingo fell into abuse in New York in the relatively short time of two years merely is another indication that cops are not supermen. If their superiors have clay feet, the policemen are willing to mush around in the same clay.
