About Sharron Miller , Founder/Director of SMAPA
Sharron Miller has devoted her life to dance. She attended the
Juilliard School and worked with thedirector of the Garden State
Ballet. After completing her training, she danced as a soloist for
theAlvin Ailey American Dance Theater and appeared in seven
Broadway shows. Sharron also taughtat Renaissance Middle School for
13 years, where her dance and drama program for youth waspraised by
the State of New Jersey. Today, as the founder of Sharron Miller's
Academy for thePerforming Arts (SMAPA) she shares the skills she
acqu ired throughout a lifetime in the arts withstudents from all
walks of life.
Recently Sharr on Miller, sat down with Joanna Gagis , host of
NJTVs Lif e & Living with JoannaGagis , to share her
experiences as a Juilliard S chool graduat e, Alvin Ailey Am erican
Dance Theater soloist and Broadway veteran, and discuss how she
found her passion for dance, and how shecontinues to preserve the

with Sharron Millers Academy for The Performing Arts (SMAPA ) the
event willfeature a chat, a Q&A and close with a signing of her
new book Life In Motion .
In Conversation With Misty Copeland plans to explore Mistys
history-making feat as the onlyAfrican American soloist with the
prestigious American Ballet Theatre , an insider s look at
thesometimes cutthroat world of professional ballet, and
collaborations from Prince to Twyla Tharp.
Sharron Millers work as a professional dancer, nurturing of so
many young dancers, an d thecreation of a successful business in

Misty Copeland is a recipient of the Leonore Annenberg
Fellowship in the Arts, an inductee into theBoys and Girls Club
Alumni Hall of Fame, and the National Youth of the Year Ambassador
of theBoys and Girls Clubs of America. Copeland was honored at BETs
2013 Black Girls Rock! with theYoung, Gifted and Black Award, and
her many appearances as a spokeswoman for Under Armourand Coach, as
a judge on Dancing With The Stars and as the face of ABTs Project
Plie havehelped to bring ballet to the masses. Copeland lives in Ne
w Yo rk City.
