- Apple uses its FairPlay DRM to lock consumers to its devices and to its online digital content service.
- DRM interoperability is a big issue.
- Consumers do not want to buy content twice.
- Maintains “rights locker” for purchased DECE content
- Purchased devices are registered to a single domain
- Purchased content plays on all registered devices
- Unlimited copying to registered devices in domain
- Previously-purchased content can be downloaded again
- Digital rights include the right to burn one DVD copy
