Osprey autoclaves have cylindrical chambers andhave been designed to the highest standards witheconomy in mind. At the same time, thiscomprehensive and highly versatile rangeincorporates a wide variety of features to suit mostrequirements. The choice of control options isfurther enhanced with the brand newTouchclave-R touchscreen control system.
Design FeaturesThe Osprey is available in seven standard chamber sizes.
Front-loading – 40, 70, 150 and 380 litresTop-loading – 50, 100 and 130 litres
Steam Raising MethodsSteam is generated within the chamber by heatingwater in a reservoir, thus displacing steamupwards. A ‘cut out’ device provides protection against low water level. A choice of push button or fully automaticwater-fill system can be fitted to most models, allowing the chamber to be topped up after each cycle either with orwithout operator intervention.
Programmable Control SystemOsprey autoclaves are available with a choice of microprocessor control systems. The Uni-Program system is ideal wherethe same cycle is repeated regularly. The operator simply keys in the parameters once. These parameters are then storedin the memory until altered. As an alternative, a brand new versatile multi-program control system has been introducedon the Osprey. See Control Systems section for more details on the exciting new Osprey Touchclave-R.

A number of specific options can be added to the Osprey range. These include:
• Vacuum System/Air Ballast – LTE has developed two ultra-efficient combinedvacuum and air ballast systems for use onall Osprey models (except Osprey 40). Byutilising a liquid ring vacuum pump,Osprey models fitted with this option canachieve vacuum levels of 200mbarA. A vacuum program is incorporated into the Touchclave-R control system, whichprovides a Pre-Sterilization pulsed vacuumstage for excellent air removal. In addition a post-sterilization pulsed post-vacuum stage at theend of the cycle will assist with drying.
Our optional enhanced vacuum system has been designed to offerimproved levels of load dryness at the end of the cycle.
The air ballast system is ideal when processing sealed liquids, as itreduces the risk ofcontainer rupture and helps reduce overall cycle times.
• Auto-Fill Systems – Two water fill options are available on theOsprey 70, 150 and 380 depending on the type of control system offered.
• Thermal Data Printer – This is an option, which can be fittedto all Touchclave-R models.
• NHS Upgrade Package – A number of additional features can beincorporated into the autoclave to bring it in line with the specificrequirements of HTM2010. This can be discussed on an individual basis.
• Effluent Retention – This option should be specified where cat.3material is being processed. Exhaust filtration is achieved through a0.2 micron microbiological filter whilst effluent is sterilized before discharge
Other options and accessories include Morrison discard containers,baskets, condensate units, air ballast mechanical handling systems andindependent temperature/pressure recording.

The Falcon 30 autoclave has been designed for awide variety of laboratory applications. ThisBench-top model is suitable for the smallermicrobiology laboratory and its rectangularstainless steel chamber makes optimum use of thespace available. There is now even greater choiceof control options with the brand newTouchclave-R touchscreen control system, whichfurther increases this product’s versatility.
Design FeaturesThe Falcon 30 will accommodate up to eight1-litre bottles.Steam is generated by heating water in a reservoirwithin the chamber, which allows for the steamto be displaced upwards. Protection against lowwater level is ensured by a cut-out device.
Programmable Control SystemThe Falcon 30 is available with a choice ofmicroprocessor control systems. The Uni-program system is ideal where the samecycle is repeated regularly. Falcon and Osprey Touchclave-R sterilizers are equipped with a control system which incorporates a powerful PLC combined with aneasy to use touch-screen, through which all commands, cycle data, program data and alarms are inputted and displayed.
This versatile system gives users a choice of selecting load-specificcycles from a menu or developing their own cycle profile.Eight cycles can be stored into the memory as standard andoptional memory expansion is available to increase thenumber of available cycles to twenty.
Load Specific Cycles - are selected by pressing theappropriate ‘on-screen’ cycle title icon and then followingthe on-screen instructions. The cycles are pre-programmedto optimize air removal and cooling profiles for each loadtype. Various parameters can be adjusted to suit thenecessary application requirements. There is also theoption to change the cycle title.
Once the programs are stored in the memory,starting the cycle could not be easier. A cycle menuis brought up on screen, allowing the required cycleto be selected. For those who need their cycles to be traceable, there is a facility to input operator ID and Batch information at thisstage. There is also a facility to program a delayed cycle start, which is particularly useful for maximising the use of the sterilizer.During the cycle, information is constantly displayed on the touch-screen. Every stage of the cycle carries a different information screen.
A fully integrated thermal paper printer, tractor printer or chart recorder is available as an option, if a hard copy print out is requiredfor relevant cycle information.
It is possible to add internal data archiving as an option to all Falcon and Osprey Touchclave-R models.
On completing a successful cycle, the screen will show the ‘Passed’ display. If a fault occurs during the cycle, ‘Failed’ will be displayedon the screen, with details of the fault conditions highlighted on a separate screen. This can be accessed by the operator, but onlyacknowledged by those with a supervisor access code. All fault conditions will also be printed where applicable.
Uni-ProgramThe system memory holds parameters for one cycle at a time.When a different cycle is required, it is a simple matter to re-program the parameters. Cycle parameters are entered via atouch-pad using an easy to follow menu, with commands andprompts shown clearly on screen. A key-switch ensures security.
The single-channel system operates by monitoring temperaturesfrom the drain sensor. During the cycle, an alpha-numericdisplay and illuminated status panel provides the user with aclear indication of the cycle progress.
