1 General The MTpro update can be downloaded and installed directly from Internet us-ing the built-in update function (full MTpro installation, Internet connection and administrator privileges are required). Depending on the option settings MTpro can check automatically, if updates are available. To run the update manually, invoke the command Check for updates… in MTpro’s help menu and follow the directions of the update wizard.

3 New and revised functions
3.1 Measuring in 2D drawings In MTpro a 2D drawing can be derived from each 3D CAD model. In version 3.5 the new Measure function can be used in the 2D viewer window. To derive a 2D drawing of a 3D model select an appropriate view. Afterwards invoke the Generate 2D view command or press Ctrl+2 on the keyboard. The programme will then open a new window with the corresponding 2D drawing.

The 2D drawing can be sent to a CAD system or saved in a 2D drawing or graphics format. Besides several Zoom commands the new Measure command is now availa-ble in the 2D viewer. Use the symbol from the toolbar or the context menu command to invoke measuring. After selecting start and end point of the measure the distance in x- and y-coordinates as well as the direct distance are displayed. To start another measure press the button Retry. Cancel quits the measuring mode.

3.2 Price calculation in order lists In order lists the new function Check prices can be used to compare the actu-al prices to the prices stored in the MTpro database. Differing prices are marked with color. Check prices works on the currently selected lines. To check prices of the complete order list all lines have to be selected (command Select all or type Ctrl-A).
During opening of an order list file MTpro checks the prices, so that all differ-ing prices are automatically highlighted. Also, when the user overwrites a cal-culated price, this will be highlighted.
Furthermore the reaction of the programme has been changed, if customer or discount are switched over. So far prices, which had been changed by the us-

er, were reset to the list prices. In the new version manually entered prices remain untouched. Use the Update prices command to re-calculate and over-write manually entered prices.
4 Integration of the spare parts information sys-tem MTparts
All contents and functions of the spare parts information system MTparts have been incorporated in MTpro and linked to the existing product data and func-tions.
4.1 Spare parts catalog To open the spare parts catalog drop down the box in the header of the pro-duct hierarchy and select the spare parts catalog.
Now the product hierarchy of the spare parts catalog is shown. In contrast to the product catalog, the user may drill down into the hierarchy up to the indi-vidual assemblies and sub-assemblies. When an assembly ( -symbol) or sub-assembly is selected, the corresponding spare parts are listed in the spare parts list. In addition an exploded view of the assembly is displayed.

4.2 Exploded views In the exploded view a required spare part can be easily identified. If the mouse pointer was moved over a position number in the drawing, the material number and name of the corresponding part is shown. The exploded views are hierarchically linked to each other. Sub-assemblies for which a separate drawing may be opened, are shown in red. A click on a red position number opens the drawing of the sub-assembly.
With the Forward and Back buttons below the MTpro menu bar, you can step through the history of drawings viewed.

4.2.1 Navigation and presentation functions In the exploded views many functions can be used, which can be invoked ei-ther on the symbol bar above the viewer window or by pressing the right mouse button (context menu):
Navigate: Switches the mouse pointer back into navigation mode. Zoom …: Increases or decreases the zoom factor according to the se-lected option. Alternatively you can zoom in or out by using the scroll wheel on the mouse. Magnifier glass: Puts a rectangular magnifier window over the drawing in which the underlying area is magni-fied. Birds eye window: In a downscaled total view the actual viewing area is shown as red rectangle. Pan view: If this option is active, the visible area can be moved by press-ing the middle mouse button. Copy selection to clipboard: After selecting a rectangular area in the drawing, the selected part of the drawing can be copied to the clip-board to paste it into other docu-ments or applications. Red line options: Determines the basic properties of red lining objects. Red line drawing objects: Add an-notations and markers to spare part drawings by using redline drawing objects. The following drawing ob-jects are available: • (straight) line • Freehand drawing line • Rectangle • Ellipse

Modify red line objects: Red line objects can be modified as follows: • stretch & move • rotate • delete all
Spare parts usage…: Initializes the Spare parts usage window with the selected assembly. (Refer to Spare parts usage).
4.2.2 Save drawings Use the Save as… command from the File menu to save spare part drawings as documents in cgm format. Important: Red line objects cannot be saved in the original drawings. To save annotations and markups (red line objects), a copy of the drawing must be saved using the Save as.. command, before you add any annotations. After-wards open the saved file, add your annotations and save again.
4.2.3 Printing The following commands from the MTpro file menu or on the Standard toolbar can be used to set-up and print the actual exploded view.
Page setup…: Specification of print pa-rameters like page size, borders and ori-entation. Print preview: Shows a preview of the printout. Print…: Opens the print dialog.
4.3 Spare parts list In the spare parts list all components are listed which belong to the displayed assembly. Exploded view and spare parts list are linked by the position num-ber. If a (black) position number was selected in the drawing, the correspond-ing line in the spare parts list is highlighted.
In return the position number in the drawing is highlighted after clicking on a line in the spare parts list.

Different variants of the same spare part have the same position number but with a different variant extension (e.g. 70, 70/1, 70/2, …). With a double-click on a line in the spare parts list the part is copied to the or-der list. Alternatively, the command Add to order list from the context menu (press right mouse button) can be used. The commands to order spare parts from the German Rexroth eShop are also available in the context menu.
Add to order list: Copies the selected spare parts to the order list. Send to basket…: Sends the selected spare parts to the Rexroth eShop. Show basket: Opens the eShop basket in the MTpro web browser window.

If a part number is crossed out in the spare parts list, the part cannot be or-dered from Rexroth. Usually these are standard parts like screws and nuts. These parts cannot be added to the order list or sent to the eShop basket.
4.4 Spare parts usage
If you want to know in which other assemblies a spare part is used, enter the part number in the search field of the spare parts usage window. The part number can either be found on the model plate of the real part or in the ex-ploded view, if you moved the mouse over the position number of the required part. Select a spare part in the spare parts list or in the catalog hierarchy and press the button Spare parts usage, or switch from the spare parts list to spare parts usage by clicking on the corresponding tab at the bottom of the window to search for a part number or part name. As a result all assemblies are listed, in which the spare part is used. A click on the button Display product invokes the spare parts list and drawing of the selected product assembly. A double-click on the product in the spare parts usage list has the same result.

4.5 Spare parts search To search for a product’s spare parts list, enter the article number in the search field at the top of the window. If you do not know the article number, search for the product name or product type. The software will find the first ar-ticle in the catalog which corresponds to the search criteria and shows its spare parts list and exploded view drawing. In most cases you will find similar products in the same catalog chapter, directly below the search result.
For actual products you can also search in the product catalog. Click on the
symbol in the product data list to open the product’s spare parts list and drawing. If there is no such symbol, no spare parts are available for this prod-uct.

4.6 Length calculation for toothed belts and chains The length of conveyor media such as toothed belts and chains which are used in belt sections and other units can be calculated in the toothed belt/chain length calculation. Articles, where a calculation is possible, are highlighted in blue within the spare parts list. Click on the blue part name to start the calculation. Or move the mouse pointer over the part in the spare parts list and press the right mouse button to open the context menu with the calculation command. If the command is grey, the calculation is not possible for this part.

4.7 Maintenance and assembly videos
In the MTpro help menu under Videos… you will find video instructions that il-lustrate frequently used assembly and maintenance tasks. The videos are di-rectly played in the MTpro window, no external video player required.
5 New calculation tools In the Extras -> Calculation… menu the calculation programmes for Buckling force… and Capacity… are new.

5.1 Buckling force calculation
To begin with select the profile type and enter the length of your profile either in mm or inch. Depending on the type of ground connection – hinged foot or foundation bracket – select the appropriate picture. Under Results the selected ground connection, the calculated buckling load and the safe load (considering a safety factor of 4) will be shown. The profile and material specifications used for the calculation are listed under Value specifications. Further information can be found in the help file, which is opened by clicking on the question mark in the upper right corner of the programme window.

5.2 Capacity calculation for grab containers The capacity calculation programme calculates the required container capaci-ty for a given number of user defined parts and recommends a suitable grab container. To start with the user has to define the parts to be stored in the container, in terms of shape and dimensions. Under part type muddled parts and regular shapes like plate, cylinder, ball or box can be selected. Depending on the se-lected type, characteristic variables and dimensions have to be specified. If a number of parts is provided under Calculation – Part quantity, the required container volume is calculated. For each container in the Container list the deviation of the container’s volume from the required volume is displayed. In return, if a specific container is selected from the list, the programme calcu-lates the number of parts that fit into the container.
The user defined parts are stored in a file under the given name and can be reused later on. Moreover the container list can be amended by the user. More information on this is given in the programme’s help file.
