Th€ binders contain a cover lett€r, adescription of th€ program, a projectguide, project reporting forms, a booktetabout Menlmeetirig Bay, an FOMBnewsletter, and tir6 anicles aboui theBay written by Bou.dotn English prolessor and noted author Frank Burrouqhs.

Ttp binders also include an FOMBmembership brochure and inlormationabod visiting the Swan lsland game

The project guide tells what proiecisfocused on the Bay last year and i;ind€x€d to show whrch teachers shouldbe contacted for information about theseprojects. The guide Lsts the panicrpatinqteach€rs, ancl gives the name and phonenumber of their school. Fi€ld trips arelist€d too, showing where they were h€ldand who led them. In addition, a sidebarshows what resources were ident'fied by

t€achers that would enhance iheir Bay

The project reportins fonns for 1996-97 ask teachers to describe methods, results or findings in the areas of sci€nceand math. language and visual arts, andsocial studies. We also ask teachers tosubmit cuniculum outlines, lesson plansand samples oI student work.

The mat€rial in the binders empha, stes that teachers decide what projecisto urork on, what field trips they want totake, and whai nrterials they want tosend us. HAB exists io help teachers dowhat they do best - teach - as theytum the tocs of theii curricula and lieldtrips toward Merrymeeiing Bay.

A guide to community re$urce people and a guide to public access sites onthe Bay are now being develop€d andwill be sent to t€achers this fall to b€added to the binders. Other materialswillbe s€nt as they ar€ published.

v,,h€n local resid€nts ar€ invit€d to speakin schools, we have organized a n€h^/orkof FOMB community liaisons. Whenteacher wish to invite a local resident tospeak or lead a field trip, they wouldcontact the FOMB liaison. This !''dy, thelocal r*ident maintains contact with on€person, ihe liaison, and does not have torec€ive ca s dre€tly from many teach-ers. Likewise, teachers har€ only to caone oI ihe liaisons to arrange a sp€ak€r.

We have liaisons in most towns, butdo not yet have one for Bath. f anyoneq, ould lik€ to volunte€r, please do- And ifanyon€ is interasted in being a commu-nity iiaison, pl€ase contact us.Int€met ConneclionHAB helps t€achers enhance hands-onlerrning in the classrooms, but also promotes the educational opportunities thatcould be provided by the Intemet andthe World Wide Web.
