The importance of proper hand hygiene placementDuring new long term care or retirement home construction, one of the last items to be installed are hand hygiene dispensers. To ensure accordance with the Long-Term Care Homes Act, a hand hygiene program must be put in place, including access to point-of-care hand hygiene solutions.

DebMed offers audits to determine where and how many dispensers are needed as well as education to instruct staff on how to use and fill these important infection prevention devices.

When many new homes were being expanded in Ontario 15 years ago, staff at one facility learned the importance of pre-planning the hard way.
