The  Brief

The  brief  that  I  have  selected  to  do  my  project  is  the  landscape  brief  ‘New  Horizons’.  In  this  project  I  will  be  taking  photo’s  of  the  surrounding  environments  on  my  travels  and  taking  in  ideas  from  other  photographers  and  trying  out  their  techniques  within  my  work.

David  Benjamin  Sherry  On  first  look  of  this  photographer’s  work  it  can  easily  make  the  viewer  think  that  he  used  photoshop  the  images  to  make  the  colour  filter  that  is  on  the  images  currently.  But  the  viewer  might  not  know  the  reason  behind  the  colour  he  has  chosen  within  the  photo  that  has  been  taken.  ‘Soaring  Yellow  Morning  Breath’  is  one  photograph  in  a  series  of  photographs  called  ‘Birth  in  the  Futureverse’    that  David  created  in  2010.  In  this  series,  he  works  with  landscapes  that  he  takes  in  the  surrounding  environment  which  you  would  see  everyday  if  you  were  to  pass  them  by  and  not  think  much  of  them.  But  you  don’t  know  what  the  photographer  was  thinking  to  add  the  colours  to  the  pictures.  Maybe  it  was  a  feeling  he  had,  or  perhaps  to  fit  with  the  mood  of  the  photo?  Although  the  photograph  itself  isn’t  very  important  on  it’s  own  but  the  whole  series  that  it  is  apart  of  is  important  because  the  viewer  a  sense  of  mood  within  the  photograph  to  gauge  the  viewer  different  feelings  an  emoHons  within  the  colour  and  the  image  itself.

Ryo  Ohwada  On  first  look  of  this  photographers  work,  the  viewer  can  immediately  think  that  the  image  is  edited  because  you  can’t  take  photos  in  that  sort  of  style,  which  is  known  as  a  Kollidascope  where  the  image  repeats  itself  at  a  central  point  and  you’ll  have  to  understand  why  Ryo  has  done  this.  ‘Unknown’  is  a  part  of  a  collecHon  of  photographs  called  ‘World  of  round’  All  the  images  within  this  collecHon  use  the  ‘Kollidascope’  technique  where  they  all  rotate  on  a  central  and  are  all  featuring  the  same  idea  with  outside  and  natural  places  to  create  something  more  beauHful  or  to  repeat  the  natural  world.  Although  the  photo  itself  is  not  very  important  but  the  collecHon  it  is  with  I  find  more  important  because  there  is  more  experimental  with  it’s  use  of  landscapes  to  create  more  interesHng  Kollidascopes  with  more  varied  range  of  idea  exploring  with  Kollidascopes  and  more  varied  use  of  imagery.

Final  EvaluaHon  My  intenHons  of  my  final  4  and  my  previous  set’s  was  to  experiment  in  the  style  of  arHsts  and  to  see  how  it  would  look  when  I  combined  both  style  together  within  my  finals.  Although  I  am  pleased  with  the  development  leading  up  to  these  4  finals,  I  sHll  think  I  could  have  improved  the  finals  more  by  having  a  more  interesHng  photo  or  a  be]er  colour  filter  to  make  a  more  eye  catching  picture.  From  my  finals  I  think  the  ‘Chichen  itza’  temple  Kollidascope  with  yellow  filter  is  my  strongest  final  because  I  think  the  colour  I  used  was  correct  and  the  over  all  image  is  visually  appealing  because  I  cropped  the  image  correctly  so  it  looks  like  a  conHnuous  temple  all  the  way  round.  I  find  weakest  one  of  my  finals  has  to  be  the  conHnuous  street  effect  picture,  because  the  filter  is  rather  weak  and  the  picture  itself  is  rather  simplisHc  in  itself,  I  think  to  improve  it  I  think  I  could  have  selected  a  be]er  photo  or  perhaps  a  more  stronger  colour  filter  on  top  of  the  image.  In  conclusion,  I  am  rather  pleased  with  how  my  finals  have  come  out,  but  I  do  think  I  can  improve  them  further  with  more  photo  choice  and  be]er  colour  filters  and  messing  around  with  the  filter  effects  to  get  the  right  result  that  I  am  looking  for.
