Message from the Co-Presidents March 2020

“Ask not what your club can do.......” guess that has already been said – very eloquently.

However it is that time of year when we start the process of determining who is going to play key roles in the Newcomers Club of Raleigh for 2020-2021. As you may have noted in the

February newsletter there are a number of opportunities for those who wish to keep the organization running smoothly into the future.

Generally speaking, fulfilling the responsibilities of these positions requires a few hours per MONTH. If you are looking for a volunteer opportunity that is fun and interesting, please step forward and join the Newcomers board. One more important point! In most recent history the organization has been run admirably by women! While we look forward to having ladies step into some of these positions, we need male support, too. Harry John and Richard Wilkinson will continue on the Board/Executive Committee next year so, men, don't feel like you will be the exception. We know that there are many talents within our group and wish that we knew about all the

skills and talents that each of our members possess. If you have a skill that you would like to share with the Newcomers, please send an email or give us a call. We truly enjoy talking with the members of the group. It is urgent that we find someone willing to take over the President's position! This fine organization cannot continue to exist without an individual willing to accept the

responsibilities of this role. If you have an interest in learning more about the responsibilities of the presidency, please let us know. With Spring on the horizon, we want to encourage our members to check out the WRAL-TV Azalea Gardens, 2619 Western Blvd. The sea of colors when the azaleas are in bloom can only be described as magnificent. The Raulston Arboretum, 4415 Beryl Rd, provides another

opportunity to see the beauty of nature with several different gardens to explore. Another favorite is the Rose Garden, 2703 Everett Ave. The best part is all are free and have parking lots. We hope you will take time to enjoy the wonders of our world. Our speaker for the month of March is Sharon Peterson, Wake County Long Range Planning Administrator. Learning about the growth and development in Raleigh and the projects and plans for the city should prove to be informative and interesting. Mark your calendars NOW for the coffee on March 6th.
