What is a Treasure Hunt?
• The Treasure Hunt is a non-profit, annual social event.
• Basically, it is driving around town for 6 hours on a Saturday night finding clues and solving puzzles.
• Followed by a breakfast buffet/party and award ceremony

What Happens During a Hunt?
• Teams meet in Deer Valley 19th Ave Northeast Parking lot.
• At 5:30 pm, all teams get their first clue.• Upon solving clue, they drive to the location on their
map corresponding to the clue. Team must get a receipt from the site to prove they were there.
• At the next location will be another clue to solve.• ~20 clues later (around 11:00 pm), team will reach
the site for the final party.• Best time wins … and plans next year’s Hunt.

How Do I Prepare for a Hunt?
• Form a team of 4-6 people and register as soon as possible- Limited number of teams. First come, first served.- Payment must accompany registration
• Study and Solve all Hints Wise or Otherwise- New hints published weekly- Some hints will help you on the Hunt (Wise)- Some hints will not (Otherwise).

The Stakes
All Sites are marked with Wooden Stakes
• TH- Has receipts with team and site numbers. - Look for clue within 50’.
• X (not at every site)- Stop the car. Proceed on foot following the Arrows.
• Arrow (not at every site)- Follow the arrow(s) to the TH to find the clue.

Your “Bag”
• Contains Start Clue & Other Things you may (or may not) need at any site.
• Contains Receipt Envelope, Use it.- Receipt envelope also has your site sequence; keep track of
your position in hunt.• Always carry your “Bag”!

Items To Bring
• Required and Optional lists will be given a few weeks before the Hunt.
• Examples from the past:- Flashlight- Roll of quarters- Non-claustrophobic team member

Typical Clues
• Bag Sites -- Your clue is in an envelope inside a large garbage bag
• Word Puzzles -- ex: Crossword or Unscramble• Visual Type -- ex: Ballistic origami birds• Techie Type -- ex: Bounce lights with mirrors• Interactive Type -- ex: Obstacle Course• “T. Hunter” is sure-fire tipoff that you are on track!• If in doubt, review “Hints Wise and Otherwise”

When Trying to Solve Clues . . .
• If in doubt, check your bag inventory!• Keep track of your time! It may be advantageous to
call & incur the penalty.• Team Solving, multiple copies, use them.• Don’t tip off other teams with the solution.• Survey the map in the beginning.

HELP!!
• Each team will be given a primary & backup phone number plus a password in your starting bag.
• If you need help with finding or solving any clue, just call.- If the committee helps you find the clue, a 10 minute penalty
will be assessed, - Solving the clue for you costs 20 minutes.
- So…help with find and solving together will cost 30 minutes.

Remember…Safety
• Only ONE vehicle per team!• All team members MUST have a seat with an
operational seatbelt!• We will make an example of someone/team not
following the rules.• Please obey the traffic laws!• Drive Carefully but…..HAVE FUN!
