We are devoted to the Word of God and claim its joy, power and authority. We know that through Jesus Christ we have forgiveness, fellowship, friendship and peace. We know that we are far from perfect, but we also know that God is at work in our lives and forgives our failures. We know that there are few things that bring greater joy in life than sharing God’s Good News of Salvation and making new friends as we come to know Christ better. We know that “church” is not about the things we say or ceremonies or traditions. Instead, we un- derstand that church is all about growing, loving, learning and caring. We know that worship is not supposed to be stuffy and boring but is at its best when it is vital, rele- vant and even fun. VISION

STATEMENT:

Our vision is to provide

encouragement, connection,

and discipleship within Christ’s

church as we reach out in love to

witness to the world around us.

You are the light of the world, oh Lord,

And you make your servants shine.

So how could there be any darkness in me,

Since you are the light of the world?

You are the bread of life, oh Lord,

Broken to set me free.

So how could there be any hunger in me

Since you are the bread of life?

Wipe every tear away, oh Lord,

And teach us the song of the Lamb.

Your promise is true but it's still up to you

To wipe every tear away.

Minister's report: Vern went home, dental issues.

Youth Director’s report: Camp Packets are out. April 24th

is Sundae Sunday.

Elders' report: Still discussing how to combine Sunday

School leadership and Youth leadership roles. Kendall

explained how the amendments to the by-laws affect who can

and cannot meet at the church. Trying to find options on how

we can help YFC. Would like to see Movie Night become

more of an outreach. Plan to discuss church goals. Elders will

establish a policy about what can be put on the Church

facebook. Facebook can be a great outreach tool if people

would share with their friends. Need to get consent before

posting a child’s picture.

Financial report: General fund had a loss of $1845 for the

month. Insurance, snow plowing, program renewal, and

electrical work account for high expenses. Ryan made motion

to move $5000 to Youth Van savings. Motion passed.

Deacons'/Trustees’ report: Exit doors have been replaced.

Sunday in the Park is June 26th. Spring work day is April

30th. Easter breakfast has been planned. Discussed kids

running in hallway and throwing balls over dividers. Wayne

will teach them to be careful.

Office administrator: Working on church directory with

Sue Hamberg. Cindy C and Sue broke down the Live Nativity

into manageable parts.

Old business: None

New business: Men’s Bible Study starting end of March.

Decision America Tour is coming to St. Paul on June 16th.

Sue F plans to attend and would like others to join. Pedro’s

group has been coming on Mondays and cleaning. Greg Ernst

will meet with Al, Kendall, Wayne, Bob H, and Richard to

explain Energy Audit. Discussed an alternative for the

dividers in the fellowship hall.

In 1922,a woman named Rhea F. Miller wrote a poem. In 1932,

a copy of that poem was placed on the top of an organ in a

family home in New York. Seated at the organ was a 23-year-

old musician named George Beverly Shea.

Miller's poem caught young George's attention. The words on

the paper rang true to the cry of his heart. And so, he set them

to music. Upon hearing her son singing this testimony of com-

mitment, George's mother came in from the kitchen, with tears

in her eyes, and encouraged him to sing the new song in church

the following Sunday.

As the congregants listened to George's deep voice sing out I'd

Rather Have Jesus, than silver and gold, little did they know

that the song was destined to become one of the most well-

known of all contemporary Christian songs.

A few years later, George joined forces with another young

man - Evangelist Billy Graham. Together they traveled the

world. Billy would preach and George would sing. His two

favorite songs were How Great Thou Art, and his signature

song, I'd Rather Have Jesus.
