Week 7 Term 2
9 June 2016
Dear Parents/Guardians
I would like to thank Mr Wilson who ably looked after the school in my absence. He was well supported
by Mrs Dobbs and Mrs Sloan. It was reassuring to know the school was in such capable hands. Mrs
Sloan had the extra pressure of being part time in her class at the same time and she managed both
roles extremely well. I do have more Long Service Leave to clear before the end of the year but am
unsure at this stage as to when this will be taken.
Mr Fowler (our School Patron) recently suffered a heart attack. I am pleased to advise that he is on the
road to recovery and will be back helping out at the school next week. We wish him all the best.
Winter Sport
Tomorrow the teams will be playing against North Mandurah here at Riverside. If your child is in one of
the teams please come along and support them. Games will commence around 1.30pm. Thank you to
the staff who have been training the teams before school.
Koolangka Boordiya (Children's Leadership) Program
Yesterday Miss Otway and Ms McLean (ESC) accompanied 6 students from year 5 & 6 to Coodanup
College for a Children’s Leadership Program. Students from other public and private schools in the
Mandurah Community also attended.
The students looked at the strengths that they have and how they can make Mandurah a stronger
Community. It was a great opportunity for our students to take part in and contribute.
School Uniform
It is a concern that an increasing number of students are not dressed in their school uniform,
particularly the navy school jumper. Could you please ensure your child/children are
adhering to the School Dress Code Policy? A copy of this policy is available on the school
website and at the office. The Uniform Shop which is open Monday 2.30-3.15pm and Friday
8.30-9.30am also stocks second hand uniforms.
Thank you
