NEWSLETTER Week 7 Term 2 9 June 2016 Dear Parents/Guardians I would like to thank Mr Wilson who ably looked after the school in my absence. He was well supported by Mrs Dobbs and Mrs Sloan. It was reassuring to know the school was in such capable hands. Mrs Sloan had the extra pressure of being part time in her class at the same time and she managed both roles extremely well. I do have more Long Service Leave to clear before the end of the year but am unsure at this stage as to when this will be taken. Mr Fowler (our School Patron) recently suffered a heart attack. I am pleased to advise that he is on the road to recovery and will be back helping out at the school next week. We wish him all the best. Winter Sport Tomorrow the teams will be playing against North Mandurah here at Riverside. If your child is in one of the teams please come along and support them. Games will commence around 1.30pm. Thank you to the staff who have been training the teams before school. Koolangka Boordiya (Children's Leadership) Program Yesterday Miss Otway and Ms McLean (ESC) accompanied 6 students from year 5 & 6 to Coodanup College for a Children’s Leadership Program. Students from other public and private schools in the Mandurah Community also attended. The students looked at the strengths that they have and how they can make Mandurah a stronger Community. It was a great opportunity for our students to take part in and contribute. School Uniform It is a concern that an increasing number of students are not dressed in their school uniform, particularly the navy school jumper. Could you please ensure your child/children are adhering to the School Dress Code Policy? A copy of this policy is available on the school website and at the office. The Uniform Shop which is open Monday 2.30-3.15pm and Friday 8.30-9.30am also stocks second hand uniforms. Parents wanting to apply for enrolment at Riverside should ensure that their application is received at the school office along with a copy of the birth certificate, immunisation records and proof of address (see ‘Requested Documentation’ attached to the application form). APPLICATIONS CLOSE FRIDAY 22 nd July 2016 Jeans for Genes Next Tuesday 14 th June, students are invited to wear their jeans to school with their usual school shirt and school jumper. Students are asked to make a gold coin donation which will be sent to Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) to help sick children. Thank You We would like to say a big thank you to Mrs Denise Jeffers (Mother of Taj Jeffers in Room 16) for her donation of soccer balls to the school.

Dear Parents/Guardians

I would like to thank Mr Wilson who ably looked after the school in my absence. He was well supported

Fresh Fruit Friday Family Fun Day

Parents/grandparents of Year 1 students are invited to join their children in a Fresh Fruit Friday Family Fun Day at 8:50 on Friday 17

th June. The children will participate in outdoor games followed by eating

fresh fruit. Parents/grandparents are invited to spectate or participate in the games and then join their children/grandchildren in eating a healthy fruit picnic. Please bring along a picnic rug and some fruit to eat with your children/grandchildren.

Parents/grandparents of Year 1 students who attend will receive a free raffle ticket in the fruit platter draw.

Normal classes will resume at 9:50.
