right. As we look forward to 2013, we look forward to a year filled

We’re not only experiencing an incredible growth in sales, but an

Chief Operations Officer, Kevin Patrick, to our team. We’ve also

University of Nebraska followed by her esthetician’s

license, Janna spent more than 10 years working for

plastic surgeons and dermatologists around the country.

Her passion for skincare and business experience paved

the way for a much bigger dream to one day start her

own medical-grade skincare company. After years of

pharmaceutical research, planning and investment,

Janna’s dream became a reality when she founded IMAge

Skincare. Her objective was to create results-driven

products that treat skin conditions at the cellular level.

Janna ronert, CeO, grew up on a farm in Nebraska.

CHANgINg LIveS IN PeRUthe Care for Skin foundation led a team

of 17 medical personnel to Peru, offering

reconstructive surgery to children who have

suffered loss of skin due to accidents, tumors,

burns, scars or genetic abnormalities.

Dr. Marc ronert, a Board Certified plastic

and reconstructive surgeon, was among

the physicians who donated his time and

experience to the mission. “Utilizing my skills as

a plastic surgeon on patients who are unable to

afford necessary treatments is one of the most

gratifying moments in my profession. Often,

with simple reconstructive surgical procedures

we are able to change someone’s life within just

a few minutes. to not offer this to patients in

need would be unthinkable,” he said. Dr. ronert

is the President and Medical Director of IMAge

Skincare, a major contributor to the Care for

Skin foundation.

Upon arrival in Peru, the team was met with

approximately 130 patients, most under the

age of 5. Of the 130 patients, 70 were able

to receive treatment. “We have to triage the

patients and determine who we can operate on

with adequate time for follow-up while we are

there,“ Dr. ronert said.

founded in 2011, the Care for Skin foundation’s mission is

not only to provide reconstructive surgery to those in need,

but to donate money to like-minded organizations such as

resurge and Smiletrain, who coordinate medical missions

to third world countries where Board Certified physicians

perform surgeries on patients with cleft lips, burn wounds

and hand deformities, as well as other surgeries. the current

trip was carried out in partnership with resurge.

although the week in Peru was the first mission trip for the Care for Skin foundation, plans are already underway for similar expeditions in 2013.

what is your opinion on fillers; are they safe? are they practical?

Do you have a brand you suggest? is there any brand i should

avoid due to extreme side effects?

this is a great question and the answer is both yes and no. In my

personal experience and opinion, you should stay away from

permanent fillers because they can have serious side effects. the

temporary fillers, i.e. hyaluronic acid fillers, are very safe to use when applied

by an experienced person. In the US, there is no hyaluronic acid filler

approved by the fDA I would not recommend – so you are safe when you

ask for one of these types of fillers. If you want to be sure that the person

who is doing it is also experienced, you might want to ask for a board

certified plastic surgeon in your area.

hi Dr. Marc! in regards to facial plastic surgery, what is the best

protocol with iMaGe to enhance the healing process and provide

overall health for the skin?

We have a specifically designed “Post-treatment KIt” to be used

after any type of procedure. that kit contains a tremendous amount

of anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory ingredients and botanicals to

speed up the recovery process.

in your opinion what would a “prep” consist of before laser,

peels, or surgery?

Prepping your skin enhances the results of chemical peels or laser

procedures. A good prepping regime always consists of glycolic acid.

the main goal is to exfoliate the upper layers of your skin, thinning

the stratum corneum (dead skin cells), so other active ingredients or high

energy like a laser can penetrate better. You also want to slow down your

melanocytes so lightening agents, natural or hydroquinone, should be used

to prevent post-inflammatory pigmentation.

what is the best way to get rid of broken veins from rosacea and

redness in my cheeks? i’m trying proactive now and it seems to

be helping. just wanted to see if there is anything else i can do.

rosacea is an inflammatory condition, so I recommend a tremendous

amount of anti-oxidants. that’s why we created our line called vital

C. It is specifically created for rosacea and sensitive skin. If you found

something that helps – great! If you do not feel it improves much, then it

would be a good idea to try the vital C line. Broken veins are not treated

with any crèmes, so I am not sure if Proactive would be helpful. If you talk

about real broken veins, then a laser treatment might be able to reduce

these veins effectively.
