New Garden With thanks to Emerald Landscapes Sydney, a local company based in Maroubra, we are pleased to unveil our newest garden space. This area links the undercover COLA and the oval. It was previously run down and nothing could grow there because students kept running up and down the hill.
The area is now full of native plants and mulch, is contained with timber edging and has a new concrete landing at the top of the stairs. There is also a new bubbler for students to use as they play on the oval.
With a bit of time, this area will be a beautiful looking garden that students and community can admire as they come into the school.
Thank you to Roger and the team at Emerald Landscapes Sydney for their amazing work.
This area, combined with the new seating and umbrellas, now looks amazing and the students have been very positive in their reviews.

Year 4
“The struggles ends when the gratitude begins”
In year 4, wellbeing has been at the epicentre of our learning. To showcase our random acts of kindness and gratitude, we have created two bare trees which can only be filled with the positivity that surrounds us. We are excited to see our trees blossom as we continue to focus on the positivity in our lives.
In mathematics, we have enjoyed experimenting with volume and capacity. We used unifix cubes to create and identify volume, and measured the capacity of different containers using litres and millilitres. However, our favourite activity was the Capacity Race. Using a sponge, we needed to transport water from one bucket to the next. The winners of this race were able to fill their bucket with over 5L!

Aboriginal Education
National Reconciliation Week (27 May - 3 June)
Part 2
In Australia, First Nations Peoples have cared for Country for over 120,000 years, maintaining Country by using a wide range of strategies, knowledge and technologies to manage land, water and resources to ensure that Country is cared for now and for generations to come.
When we use the term ‘Country’ we are referring to the specific areas of land, sea and sky with which Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and communities have a custodial, cultural and spiritual relationship.
‘Country’ is capitalised as a proper noun to acknowledge the significance of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ relationships to Country and aspects of the way in which First Nations People think about, speak about and relate to Country.
We are all in this together - All Australians need to care and respect each other and care of Country.
This week we are showcasing Stage 1. Enjoy!
Stage 1, explored the beautiful poem 'Ten Little Fingers & Ten Little Toes' read by Aunty Nita. Students considered the similarities between newborn babies despite the diversity of the places they were born. Classes re-created artworks of the Aboriginal flag whilst learning about what each colour represents.
Students explored the Aboriginal Languages Map of NSW & ACT. They discovered that NSW is made up of around 70 different Aboriginal nations each with their own language or language group.
