What’s the procedure for taking my class to the Library? We have a booking chart for the areas in the Library – Study Area, Teaching Room, Computers, Reading Pit. Phone us on 136 to check for availability, and to book. Please inform us if you later find you can’t use your time slot, so that others can make use of the area.

What is expected of me when I have a class in the Library? You are in charge of your class and their behaviour. Our rules are basic – no eating, no bags, and keep the noise level to a minimum. When they leave, we appreciate it if you have the class put books on the trolley, or if World Book, shelved back in the right place, and put the furniture back where it started!

Students get the best out of their library time if you are actively supervising and assisting them. Plan ahead and book a teacher-librarian to work along with you.

What if a group of students wants to use the Library?Up to six students per class will be supervised by us in the library IF they have a yellow permission slip saying what they are supposed to be doing and for how long, AND you have checked first that there is room for them in the Library. Remember that the computers are often in use by library classes. Phone 136.

What other facilities do you offer? We have the usual newspapers and magazines, a photocopier and printer, and overhead projectors. The Teaching Room has a fixed data projector and screen, with connected DVD and VCR players. We are able to lend out a data projector and laptop computer for school use. We ask that you personally borrow the data projector – we don’t hand it over to students.

Are students allowed to photocopy?Yes, they are encouraged to be independent. We charge them 10c per sheet to photocopy and print in the Library.

What else can the Library do for me?We would LOVE to help you design assignments and teach Information Literacy skills along with you.
