THE NEWSLETTER OF ROTARY DISTRICT 7300
Including Allegheny, Beaver and Parts of Westmoreland Counes, Pennsylvania
July 2018
ONE HUNDRED FIFTY YEARS OF SERVICEAMONG JUST THREE MEMBERS
On 21 June 2018, The Sharpsburg/Aspinwall Rotary Club honored three members who, collectively, have already served for one-hundred fifty years as Rotary Members.
Sonny Galanty (left), who ran a hardware story and a carpet business in the Borough of Sharpsburg, joined Rotary in 1958.
Roy Yunker (center) joined Rotary in 1973; he was a long-time engineer with PPG Glass Company.
Dom Perrotte (right) joined Rotary in 1972. For years , Dom operated a market in Sharpsburg after his military service in Korea.
Congratulations, gentlemen! [-Ed.]
We have support teams in place to help you.
Join me.
S. Singh Ajmani , District Governor
Dear fellow Rotarians,
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your District Governor.
I believe that Rotarians are Important People Doing Worthwhile Things; and Rotary is a Valuable Organization, both for Rotarians and for the Community.
Let us engage with our emotions and energy in every activity we undertake, have purposeful club programs for our professional learning and growth, and initiate projects that provide meaningful Community Service.
We can accomplish so much more when we work together. Rotarians are leaders ... you are a leader of your initiatives ... take the lead and you will find me as your supporter, cheerleader and first follower.

E-Club Pittsburgh to Volunteer for Pennsylvania Council
of the Blind Convention
Vanessa Dodds, E-Club President, extends an invitation to all
Rotarians in District 7300 to join members of her club volunteering
to assist with attendees to the Pennsylvania Council of the Blind Conference to be
held October 18 through 21, 2018 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Green Tree.
Blind members from far and
wide will be attending the
conference.
Volunteers are needed to greet attendees as they arrive at the
hotel, guiding them to the registration desk, to the elevators to
their rooms, ensuring they know their floor and room number so
they can find their rooms on their own. During the four days of
the conference, volunteers will be guiding the
attendees to and from the conference areas, to and
from the rest rooms, where the volunteer will wait
in the hallway to return the attendee to the conference rooms, outside
to the relief areas for those attendees who will have seeing-eye dogs.
Note that the attendees all pick up after their dogs, so no volunteer
assistance is necessary, except to guide the attendee back to the
conference rooms.
Blind people are quite capable of functioning on their own in day to day
activities, but assisting with guiding them during the conference will
make their days much easier.
For over 75 years, the Pennsylvania Council of the Blind has
tirelessly worked on behalf of all people with vision loss.
Whether advocating for employment opportunities, assuring
the right to an independent and private vote or promoting legislation
improving access to information; PCB and affiliate chapters throughout
the state continue to encourage and assist all those with vision loss to
achieve their fullest potential.
A new guide dog user chapter is in the planning stages. On
October 19, there will be a break-out session for interested
attendees.
If you or your club is interested in joining your fellow Rotarians in this volunteer
activity, please contact Vanessa Dodds [email protected] .

Membership Minute
Me Neither! By Karl Ohrman
Do you think Rotary membership will grow
without active participation from every District
Rotarian? Me Neither!
Do you think our District leaders alone can
build our membership? Me Neither!
Do you think your club will get bigger and
stronger without a clear focus on stated membership Goals? Me
neither!
Do you think our District events such as the District Conference will
be better if we have fewer members? Me neither!
Do you think you are being a good Rotarian without constant
attention to membership? Me Neither!
Do you think your friends, co-workers and fellow church members are
better off by not being exposed to the excitement of Rotary? Me
Neither!
Do you think if all District Rotarians got reinvigorated in the cause of
membership growth, set realistic goals, and set up an active action
plan--that District 7300 and all of the communities that it serves will
have a huge positive impact? Me too!

District Tech News: by Dennis Piper
Great Resources:
- Rotary International Web Site: www.rotary.org
Please visit the new and improved RI website. The new webmaster left Microsoft to join
the Rotary cause. There are great resources from the Rotary Citation to easy-to- create
brochures. You can event get 40% off Kennywood and Sandcastle tickets.
- District 7300 Web Site: www.rotarydistrict7300.org
We have done some significate work on the District website. We just added photos from
the 2017 Atlanta International Conference and District Conference. Check out the videos
on the home page and in the news section. If you have some District event photos, we
would love to post them. Please email any event and activities to the District Secretary.
Please note: All member, officer and club information is to be entered on
the District website, NOT the RI website. By entering information on the
District site, the RI site will updated as well.
- Club Runner App: Available for all Smart Phones
If you would like a list of your members and all their information, you must download
this free app. The new version is awesome.
- Presidents and Presidents Elect: www.rotary.org
It is very important to fill in your goals and volunteer hours on the RI website. If you
need help, please let me know. It is not that painful and will benefit Rotary more than you
know. Thank you for all you hard work.
- The Presidential Citation is now called the Rotary Citation
- Check out the new and improved Rotary Club Central. Record your goals &
service activities. Quick link: https://rcc.rotary.org
- Assisting Governors: Technology also come in the form of people who want to help you
… AGs are a great resource.
If you need assistance with any of these technologies and or would like to schedule a club
training session, please feel free to email [email protected] or call me: 412.292.7109

Please Use the ClubRunner Site
Member, Officer and Club information MUST be entered on the
ClubRunner site, NOT the RI site. The two sites are integrated,
but information only flows one way – from the District to RI. So
information entered on the ClubRunner site will update the RI
site; but information entered on the RI site will NOT flow back
to the District site. So, to keep the two sites in sync, please use
the ClubRunner site for Member, Officer and Club information.
Here’s an anagram to help you remember:
M – Member information
O – Officer information
C – Club information
K – Keep using the ClubRunner site
PS – Johnny Mock loves this anagram!
Also, from time to time, it’s good to check that both sites remain in
sync. Club officers can access the RI Member Synchronization function
on the ClubRunner Administration page, bottom, right. It is particularly
a good idea to perform this function in June and December, in
preparation for the July and January SARs.
Should you need assist, please contact District Technology Chairman
Dennis Piper [email protected] or District Secretary Sandra Rebholz

District Governor 2018-2019
District Governor S. Singh Ajmani
Turtle Creek Valley Rotary Club
1 Mountain View Court, Monroeville, PA 15146
412 607-3284 Cell, [email protected]
Singh was born in Punjab, India. He completed his high school education in PN Government Inter College in Ramnagar, in UP state. At school, he enjoyed soccer and cricket, and was a member of the National Cadet Corp. He earned his Engineering degree at Banaras Hindu University in 1966 and was married in 1967. After working as a Plant Manager at a refractory plant in India, Singh immigrated to USA in 1972. His wife Surinder, daughter Shashi and son Bob joined him in 1973 when he was in New York. The family moved to Pittsburgh in 1974 and Singh earned his MBA from the University of Pittsburgh in 1978.
Singh is CEO and founder of Logix Guru, LLC, a Software Development, Quality Assurance, Data Analytics, and Professional Staffing company. The company motto is “Expect Intelligent Solutions”. He is a member of the Institute of Entrepreneurial Excellence, Pittsburgh Technology Council and Eastern Minority Supplier Diversity Council.
Singh was influenced by Rotary as a young professional. A Rotary Club in India, where his brother-in-law was a member, had adopted a very poor village. Rotarians were influential in bringing roads and electricity to the village. They arranged for micro loans for sewing machines and bicycles; village women sewed under-garments and the men sold them in the farmer’s market.
Singh joined Upper St. Clair-Bethel Park Rotary Club in 1983. He is a RI Foundation Benefactor and a Paul Harris Fellow plus 4. He has served as Club President and as Assistant District Governor. His favorite Rotary projects are sinking wells for clean water and sanitation in India. He has also been involved in many other projects, such as a medical dispensary, an ambulance for an eye bank, a school for physically challenged children, a lap pool for a physically challenged child, and help for the Mother Theresa home for the elderly.
For Singh, Rotary is a very effective, powerful and far-reaching organization to serve fellow human beings. With and through Rotary, one can do much more that can be done without.
“Rotary fits well into my way of life … it is a natural and effortless extension of my daily routine in my work, my home, my place of worship, and in my play”, he says. “I have had the good fortune to work with some ofthe dedicated Rotarians who have influenced my thoughts and shaped my view toward community service.” I look forward to this opportunity to serve my fellow Rotarians and the community as District Governor.
