The Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) charged on new passenger vehicles (M1) is based on their engine's CO2 emissions* (expressed in grammes per kilometre (g/km)). *CO2 emissions are measured according to the technical requirements and specifications of the European

Regulations (EC) 715/2007 and (EC) 2017/1151 as last amended.

If a car's list price is over £40,000 (including VAT and factory fitted options) at first registration, the customer will pay an additional VED rate (currently £310 for Petrol and £320 for Diesel) for five years after the end of the first registration (in addition to the standard £145

VED charge per year).
