New Uniform
Our three new school shirt designs to vote on have arrived. Surveys will be emailed to parents with the newsletter and those who receive paper copies will of course receive a paper copy of the survey. All WPS students will complete their surveys during technology lessons. If they are absent on that day they can complete the survey on a home computer or visit the library during lunch or even ask their lovely class teacher to access one of the classroom computers. Three students wore the three designs and visited every classroom yesterday. They looked fantastic and all commented on how comfortable they felt. Mrs Pelley washed them last night and reported to me that they dried in a flash which should make all the dads who do the washing very pleased! Three children will also wear the designs to a Stage 2/3 sports assembly today and to the K-2 assembly on Friday. Pictures of the shirts can also be viewed on the school website. Paper surveys need to be completed if possible by Friday 21 September (last day of school). The computer survey will need to be completed by Thursday 27 September.
Assembly of Excellence
This very special end of term event will commence at 9:30am on Wednesday 19 September. We hope you can join us for this celebration of learning at WPS.
State Finalist Netball
Good luck to our talented netballers who will travel to Sydney this Sunday in preparation for a huge day on Monday. Everyone at Wauchope Public School and indeed Wauchope is behind you girls. Our first hurdle will be Kanwal Public
School. Other schools participating are Bilambil PS, New Lambton PS, Jerrabomberra PS, Eglington PS, Thurgoona PS and West Pennant Hills P.S. All the best to Maihali, Maddi, Kiara, Jakeisha, Layne, Molly, Gabbi, Piper, Ashleigh and Sarah and coaches Mrs O’Reilly and Mrs Newell. The girls looked very sharp on the NBN news on Tuesday evening. The segment can be viewed on their website.
K-2 Sports Carnival
Although very warm this was an absolutely brilliant day. Congratulations boys and girls on your level of participation and enthusiasm. My favourite activity used to be the egg and spoon race and as a youngster I believe I had some real talent in this area. However, my new favourite sport is chicken tossing (please note: No live animals were used in this activity). A huge thank you to the K-2 staff and in particular Mr Beard for their excellent organisation and commitment to our K-2 students. I don’t believe I have seen a better infants athletics event at any other school I have worked at. Thank you also to the fantastic mums who worked in the canteen for the benefit of our WPS students. I made sure I sampled the canteen delights in a show of support for our school.

Book Character Parade
Children are invited to dress up as a book character on Friday 21 September. These have traditionally been tremendous days. All students will need to return a permission note as we will be venturing outside the school gates in costume. I believe students will have to be in a costume to participate in the street walk. There is a very inexpensive book fair on in the library next week. Great opportunity to get some holiday reading for your children.
Excursions
Year 2 had a brilliant time on their excursion on Tuesday and I’m sure Year 1 are having a good time also at Timbertown today.
Swimming Season
I have noticed that all of the registrations for summer sports are occurring at present. Everyone knows my opinion on how beneficial team sports are to children’s development with social and communication skills not to mention health and fitness benefits.. I would also encourage parents to consider enrolling your child in Nippers, Swim Club or swimming lessons. I believe the ability to swim and water confidence is a lifesaving skill.
Sport
Well done to the boys who participated in the Rugby League Sevens during the week. I’ve heard the boys played well.
Wauchope Gazette Our netballers and successful athletics teams have great articles in today’s Wauchope Gazette.

Cricket Gala Day
A great day was had by all at the Milo T20 Blast School Cup at Port Macquarie’s Wayne Richards Park. We took four teams and they all showed brilliant batting, bowling and fielding skills and most of all excellent sportsmanship.
Some highlights from the day were Tony T hitting 4 sixes in a row, Harvey B hitting a six to win one of our games and Harley W getting 9 wickets for the day (10 if you include the blistering in-swinging yorker that took Mr Kuchling’s scalp in practise). A huge thank you to Mr Kuchling for scoring and organising our teams. It was a fun day of cricket to give us practise for the cricket season ahead. We hope that the fact we were undefeated on the day will be an indication of our success next year.

WPS Choir
Back row left to right: Danielle S, Alyssa O, Laura S, Jess G, Lexie M, Stephanie H and Mrs Fiona Brassey Front row: Dylan B, Tayla W, Abbee G and Rachel S
On Sunday, at around 2 o’clock in the afternoon, eleven of our thirty six choir members sang ‘Jerusalem’ and ‘Joyful, Joyful’ as part of a fundraising event to promote scripture in schools in the new hall at Wauchope Public School. Many local seniors and citizens came to watch us sing and with Mrs Brassey as our amazing conductor and Mrs Dignum and as our devoted music operator and organiser, we gave a stunning performance, even if there were only eleven of us.
