New Volkswagen Lavida Features AudioHead Unit from VisteonVisteon, through its joint venture Jiangsu Toppower Automotive Electronics Co., Ltd, hascontributed the audio head unit (AHU) for the all­new Volkswagen Lavida ­ one of the mostpopular and successful vehicle models in China.

The Lavida, itself the result of a joint­venture between Volkswagen and Chinese automaker SAIC, is available in sedan and estate(marketed as ‘Gran Lavida’) body styles and is built on Volkswagen’s PQ34 platform, which also supports the Golf and Bora models.

Sold solely in the China region, engineering development for the AHU was carried out at the Yanfeng Visteon Electronics Technology(Shanghai) Co. Ltd (YFVET) technical centre in Shanghai, and manufactured at the Toppower Xuzhou factory, with an annual volume inexcess of 400,000.

The AHU comes complete with a 5­inch color touch panel, Bluetooth, SD, CAN, multiple brand­specific HMIs and MirrorLink  ­ making theLavida the first vehicle manufactured in China to offer smartphone replication. The AHU is also the base for the next generation 6.5­inchaudio model which will offer additional functionality such as CarPlay, Google Auto and CarLife in coming model years. Visteon’stechnology will subsequently feature in five other Volkswagen vehicles in China.

YFVET continues to evolve the unit, with multiple improvements planned for implementation. The vehicle refresh will be available on theChinese market in 2017.
